Living in close-in Silver Spring, MD in general and the Four Corners area specifically means living within close proximity to the beltway and public transportation and in a more densely populated area. Despite the hustle and bustle nearby, the neighborhoods are peaceful, serene and welcoming.

Northwood Park, Four Corners, Silver Spring, MD

The well-established subdivisions with mature landscaping and an interesting mix of home types - predominantly from the 30s, 40s and 50s - make for very charming neighborhoods.

One of these charming communities is Northwood Park in the Four Corner's area of Silver Spring, MD. Many of the homes have been lovingly maintained with their original character well preserved: stone fronts, slate roofs, white-washed brick, front porches and beautifully landscaped yards make for some great curb appeal!

Northwood Park is close to the trails of the Northwest Branch Stream Valley Park - Rachel Carson Greenway and Northwest Branch Trail - and Sligo Creek Park but it also has its own neighborhood park, North Four Corners Local Park. The park is on Southwood Ave and has a playground, multiple ball fields, tennis courts, a picnic area and a recreational building which is available for rent.

Northwood Park is one of the neighborhoods represented by the Northwood-Four Corners Civic Association of Silver Spring, which gives residents a way to stay informed about any community related issues as well as to actively participate. The Northwood-Four Corners Civic Association meets 5 times/year and annual dues are only $10 per household. Residents are invited to sign up for an email newsletter to receive prompt notification about current issues and crime alerts and to join their group on Yahoo.

I don't know the last time I was in Silver Spring.  It had to have been decades ago, and even then, it was to go to see a friend that lived downtown.  I have never heard of Northwood Park, but it sounds great.

Hi Tammie, that's the beauty of these neighborhoods .. so close to it all but yet so quaint and quiet!

Hi Chris Ann, it's not too far from Downtown - one beltway exit going east or a few minutes north on the 29. You'll have to come visit again!
