Roanoke City's most popular neighborhood- Raleigh Court Roanoke VA. Raleigh Court is one of, if not the, most popular and most desirable neighborhoods in Roanoke City. The section of Roanoke City often described as Raleigh Court often times includes the neighborhoods of Wasena and Grandin. These neighborhoods are often times included in any description of Raleigh Court as there are really no definite lines or roads that comprise what is commonly called Raleigh Court.
"Downtown" Raleigh Court is called Grandin Village and is made up of the intersection of Memorial and Grandin Court. The Grandin Court section of Raleigh Court has some of Roanoke Virginia's most popular restaurants (The Village Grill, Jimmy Sardines, Graces Place Pizzeria, Norbertos, Viva La Cupcake, Surf and Turf, Rockfish Food and Wine, Local Roots and more!), a furniture store (Reids Fine Furnishings), several banks, the obligatory 7-11, a hardware store (Grandin Village Hardware), a natural food store (Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op), a church, Roanoke's oldest Theater (The Grandin Theater), a private park and an elementary school (Virginia Heights Elementary). As you can tell there is no lack of things to do in Raleigh Court, Roanoke VA!
Raleigh Court boasts some of the most desirable architecture in Roanoke VA. Unlike many new home neighborhoods in Roanoke VA, you are not likely to find two of the same homes on the same street. The architecture is a mix of a few ranches, many styles of 2-story's Tutor's, Roanoke Four Squares, Victorian's and many, many more. Most of the homes have basements although they are not usually large basements suitable for finishing. Most of the basements are great for storage and for laundry, this is not to say that there are no basements suitable for finishing as there are many, they are just not as easily finished into living space as newer homes designed as such.
Raleigh Court, Roanoke VA is one of only two neighborhoods in Roanoke VA where neighbors commonly visit with their neighbors.....actually KNOW their neighbors, walk their dogs, stop for coffee on their neighbors porches, have block parties or borrow a cup of sugar! The other neighborood would be South Roanoke. South Roanoke is very similar to Raleigh Court as to styles of homes with the exception that they are a bit larger...and you can add about $100,000 for starting prices. Speaking of house prices, Raleigh Court home prices start in the low $100,000 range and go up to about $250,000 on the high end.
