Life is Good when you have a nice place to relax and The Roxana Bed & Breakfast, an historic 1893 Victorian Hotel on the shores of Mineola Bay of Fox Lake, Illinois was perfect for me!

Rudrani Ishaya, the Innkeeper-Manager was cordial from the beginning to the end and I was very pleased to enjoy my mini vacation with my daughter at the Roxana Bed & Breakfast.  This was our "home away from home," and I highly recommend it!

We enjoyed our stay in the Scarlett O'Hara Room and had a beautiful view of the lake. As a Texas REALTOR®  I enjoyed the Architecture and attention to detail, plus the tour of rooms that this great historic B&B has to offer. The lake front porch is so spacious, allowing you to collect your thoughts in silence.  A walk in the tranquil gardens can fill your soul with peace. Butterflies, birds, dragonflies, frogs, breezes of the lake, the gentle splash of water, flowers, plants and trees, all these are free.

The European breakfast that Rudrani prepares is better than anything I've ever tasted. You can enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or just sit and talk and reminisce if you choose. I enjoyed my visit with my son and daughter and I can't wait to plan another mini-vacation.

If you need a special, "home away from home,' I recommend The Roxana Bed & Breakfast located at 94 Lippincott Road, Fox Lake, Illinois (847) 587-1705. Rooms include:

Princess Diana Royal Suite

Ann Margret Master Suite

Governor Stratten Suite

Ben Hogan Room

Abe Lincoln Room

Scarlett O'Hara Suite

Mary Queen of Scotts Room

Al Capone Suite

Fantasy Room

Potawatomi Room

Tinker Bell Room

Bridal Suite

Good Saturday afternoon Patrica -

We're not at a nice B&B but I think we'll take the rest of the afternoon off and see if your statement, "Life is good when you relax," a try.  We're actually getting a slow drizzle and my guitar is calling me to come strum to the rhythm of the falling rain :)

Patricia, write something about Illinois and you know I'm going to show up. Although I don't remember the Roxana B&B...Fox Lake is only 40 minutes or so from my home in Woodstock, IL. One of my buddies has a second home on the river in Fox Lake...I think I'm a little home sick.

That surely does look inviting, Patricia. I love the lake alone and all those wonderful room names tell a story each. Glad you got to spend time with your family! Life is good when you can do that.

The B&B looks like a fabulous place. We enjoy B&B to most places, when we get away. My wife and I are going to a B&B in a few days in Newport, RI. The care you get is priceless!

Hey Patricia-dazzling architecture and setting. What a nice place to relax. Inside and out looks like every detail is attended to-very nice. We have zero Victorian architecture here as Miami wasn't even Miami back in that era BUT where I am from in upstate NY there is tons. My summer place was full blown Victorian and I loved it! (Pic was taken in the first and only winter I spent there)Have a happy Sunday:)

The Roxana Bed & Breakfast sounds like a delightful escape. Mmn..what room would I want? Potawatomi or Tinkerbell?  I think both would suit  me on different levels. Lol.  Although, I would want a view of the lake.

Glad you got to spend time with your daughter - I just returned from visiting mine. I miss her more than ever...

Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks for sharing a slice of paradise with us. D

Oh Tatyana, anytime I get to have with my family is Paradise! You don't know what you got, until you can't have it whenever you want. Life with family is the most precious gift on earth, no matter where you are, you should savor the moments. It just so happened I discovered the Roxana Bed & Breakfast and everything turned out well.

I wish you joy, peace and happiness because you are always there to give it to others here on ActiveRain.

Nick,

Woodstock is a great place too! It's not far from the Roxana. I feel confident that you and your family will enjoy it. Make sure you get there if you can. I think there's a little of Norman Rockwall in all of us.

Toni... it's a rare occasion for me to share time with my family. I love them so much. My son and daughter are my heart and soul.

This Bed & Breakfast was clean, comfortable, and I couldn't stop finding architectural wonders that intrigued me. When it comes to building construction, it should be an art and this one has lots of art to appreciate!

Joe... I hope you post a blog about your experience at the B&B in Rhode Island. If there's two places I love are a good Bed & Breakfast and a Lighthouse! Have fun and safe travels! Come back relaxed.

Marco...  there's something special about upstate NY. When I traveled back and forth from Illinois to Maine, I always felt like I was in the home stretch in Upper NY. I was past the cornfields, the hustle and the bustle and I felt I could breathe.

That's a beautiful Victorian Home you have there! I'm sure it has many fond memories. I just love the wrap around porches too!

Debb...  A daughter is a gift a mother gives to herself. I'm so glad you spent some time with your daughter too. Isn't it great to share time together? Life should be shared with pleasant memories with the ones you love.
