What's That Smell???

By
Real Estate Agent with Cedaredge Land Company

What's That Smell??? It was all over the Palisade, Colorado Memorial Park. That's because the park played host to Palisade, Colorado's second annual Lavender Festival. This year the Lavender Festival was bigger yet, and it included a cooking demonstration.

Palisade, Colorado Lavender FestivalEverything Lavender you can imagine could be found today. Have you ever had a Lavender Brownie? Lavender Gelato? Lavender and lemon water? Well I hadn't either until today.

I even got to see a Lavender Farm. It was a lot of fun and there were a lot of other crafts for sale, besides Lavender products. Even my teenager was entertained for a short time. For more information on this year's festival and next year's event visit www.coloradolavenderfestival.com.

Looking for a good real esate agent on the Western Slope of Colorado...I can help you with that.

I bet that is a really fun time. I have never been but may need to schedule one of my trips to Colorado to include this.

Debbie, I can't say that I've ever heard of a Lavender Festival, but it does sound interesting...especially the lavender & lemon water...change the water to tonic and add a little vodka and you've got my attention :)

Debbie, I read so much about lavender foods.  Me, I'm not so sure, but I'll try something once.

First I've heard of a Lavender Festival, but I have heard of it being used in many foods and drinks.  I love Nick's comment #2.

Debbie, This looks like a festival I would really enjoy! I never got a chance to visit the Lavender Festival in Rochester while I lived upstate New York.

Debbie, We have about 20 lavendar plants at our driveway start.  They really fill in and make for a beautiful entrance :)   And the bees love them too!

Hi, Jeffrey...When you do get to Colorado, give me a call. I love to play tour guide.

Hi, Nick....I did buy some Bloody Mary Mix there and sampled it after I got home. It didn't have lavender in it, but it was very tasty.

Hi, Debbie...I love growing herbs and I do grow lavender, so I really had a great time talking with other herb enthusiasts.

Hi, Sussie...I hope you get a chance to visit the farms.

Hi, Juli...I'm not crazy about lavender in my food, but it's different and would be great to take to a potluck for something unique. I did NOT buy the cookbook, but I did go to the cooking demonstration.

Hi, Roger...Nick's comment made me laugh. I did get some Bloody Mary mix and I had one of those last night.

Hi, Carol...I just love talking with other people with the same interest. I love growing herbs of all kinds.

Hi, Bliz...that sounds like a wonderful entrance to your house. How neat and what a great smell to greet your guests. My elevation is over 7200 feet, so I really have my best luck growing lavender on the south side of my house, which is the back. Most people don't see my beautiful lavender bushes.

Hi, Joan...The smell of lavender is known to make you relax. This was one mellow group. I also got to meet up with an agent friend of mine from the area. She lives right next door to the park. We talked fun and business for several hours. It was a wonderful day. She lives in a two story restored Victorian. Victorians are one of my passions. If I could find one on acreage with a mountain view, that would be my new home.

That sounds like a great time.  My wife made lavender cookies once.  They were edible.

LOL...Don. I didn't buy the lavender cookbook, even though I love this herb. I think it's smelly qualities are better than it's kitchen qualities.
