The Central Florida area from Tampa on the west coast to the Space Coast on the east coast is absolutely full of amazing day trips that include many theme parks. Universal Studios in Orlando is one of my absolute favorites. The park itself is based on many of the movies that have been produced over the years by the World famous movie studio.

As always I am going to make certain recommendations to you so you can get the most of from your trip. If you live in Florida go online and find the Florida resident deals...they cannot be beat. If you are coming to Universal and have one or two days you will want to allocate your time differently. With two days you can see each of the parks (Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure). If you have only one day and have chosen Universal Studios make sure to buy the Express Pass. It will cost you quite a bit extra (from $20 to $70 extra per ticket). The busier the park the more important it is. Express pass will allow you to bypass much of the line and see the entire park...plus allow time to revisit the rides you like best.

Here is my fool proof plan to get the most out of Universal Studios:

1. Get Express Pass and your entrance tickets online at www.universalorlando.com
2. Get to the Park about 30 minutes before it opens with your tickets in hand.
3. Buy one of the plastic Express pass holders that go around your neck for $5...otherwise you could lose it and your SOL.
4. Go straight to Despicable Me Minion Mayhem...gets busy fast.
5. Ride the Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket (it is the only thing that does not take express pass).
6. With express pass you can now work your way around the park...do Twister, the Mummy, Disaster, MIB, etc...Do not miss the Simpsons Ride. The park has an entire section devoted to small children so you will not feel like you are only dragging them around.

Revenge of the Mummy is my favorite ride in the park. It is a combo of cool roller coaster and amazing theme ride...do not miss it. For a decent meal inside the park go to the New York section and try Louie's Italian Restaurant...you can get kids the pizza and still have a plate of pasta or a salad...without breaking the bank.
