Sydenstricker School, Springfield VA

Recently, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources added several buildings to the Virginia Landmarks Register

The historic one room Sydenstricker School House in Springfield was among those chosen.

Lately, I have posted blogs about historic churches and buildings in Alexandria and Fairfax County, but one I wrote back in 2009 was

The Little Red Schoolhouse That Is Loved and Preserved

I think it would be "cool" if my post was responsible for the recognition, but I suspect they were already aware of its' existence.

However, I'm including my other historic building posts "just in case". It's at least nice to know my posts are on target.

Hi Karen, Even if they were aware, your post and your importance to the community was a voice of reason and pride in this endeaver. You should be very proud and most certainly take some credit for this terrific acheivement. The important thing is that it got done and for that, your effort shoould be heralded by having that post featured. I guess I need to go there again and check to see if it was. :-)

Karen, I bet your post was responsible for the recognition of the school house. I started writing posts on the Art Colony shops at the Greenbrier, and then the resort started to advertise more... Si I have a feeling my posts helped the shops......

William  I believe each area of the country has rich history that should be preserved.  The fact that it was not colonial America is irrelevant

Karen, I prefer to think that your post did have something to do with the Little red school house added to the list of registered landmarks.

Karen, that is great news and you do a great job with your posts about calling attention for buildings that need preserved.  I also think comment #11  from your LITTLE RED SCHOOL HOUSE post in 2009 helped carry the day as well!!!   ^_~

Hi Karen,

I suggested this post.

The Virginia Department of Historic Resources will get a hold of your quality blogs; it's just a matter of time.
