What do you do when one of your favorite places closes?
During the hyper-local post challenge, I wrote a post about Chester's Legacy Tavern - Painesville, Ohio a place I truly enjoy and have been to many times.
Two weeks ago, my cousin came out to Fairport Harbor for the first time. We were looking for a vanity and I wanted her to check out a few at Active Plumbing Supply.
After we shopped at Active, we went around the corner to Chester's. It was about 12:15 and the parking lot was empty. Normally you can't find a place to park. I noticed there was a sign on the window:
THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR FAITHFUL CUSTOMERS FOR STICKING WITH US DURING OUR TOUGH TIMES.
CHESTER'S IS CLOSED.
Believe me, I was shocked. It was one of my favorite places, the food was excellent as was the service, and it is the only restaurant I know in the neighborhood.
When I was in Fort Lauderdale visiting Tony and Tim, they mentioned the Sunset Bar and Grille at the Marina.
We decided to give it a try.
I did not take this photo, but the restaurant is such a wonderful find.
We sat out on the deck since it was such a beautiful day. The sun was shining and there was a wonderful breeze. My cousin said she felt like she was in Nantucket, not Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
Food and service were superb and the afternoon was delightful.
If you're a local and you haven't been there yet, give it a try, I highly recommend it.
Yes, I will miss Chester's, but I'm so glad I found the Sunset Bar and Grille.
This is where I headed last night, to watch the fireworks that never took place. I was sitting at a picnic table up on the hill...............great view of that gorgeous sunset I posted earlier today.
