"Aging-in-place"...to the uninformed, it may bring to mind an old car set out to pasture,right? Old truck put out to pasture near Asheville NC


However...."aging-in-place"  the contemporary term for maintaining an active lifestyle, engaging life to the fullest, and choosing to do that from your own home. 

Just so you know, I much prefer a term I coined, and the title of my eBook..."Aging in PALACE© " - (check for visuals at my Pinterest boards)...because by incorporating universal design elements...that is exactly what we can create...

..SO...what about the choice to stay in our homes and “age-in-place”? A look at the big picture: Many of our clients with a positive equity balance on their  homes now can take advantage of historically low interest rates.As the economy recovers (we expect it will, right?) and mortgage rates begin to rise, baby boomers may be more inclined to stay in our homes …

In fact,  according to The Joint Center for Housing Studies- Harvard University, “… moving implies prepaying …current mortgage with its favorable interest rate, and taking out a new, higher market-rate mortgage.”  SO...that brings up the choice of remodeling.

Here, I am NOT objective: I have to tell you that I am all for remodeling with sustainable innovation in mind as "Aging-in-PALACE ©" with

1. more energy efficient,

2. full of natural light,

3. get clued-in when it comes to eco-friendly features and benefits (I’m only using NO VOC paints!)

4. add universal design elements that make sense

5. create comfortable and enjoyable living spaces- (they will be more marketable should you decide to move.)

 

Nobody's putting me out to pasture if I can help it. How about YOU?

What is a pasture and who is putting whom out there.  I see plenty of teens, twenty year old, and other young denominations with lifeless eyes and depressed with their lives on the conveyour belt to the River Styx...and they don't know what that means or care...LOL have a great week. A
