Cuban President Raul Castro signs deals in China

Cuban President Raul Castro is meeting Chinese leaders in Beijing, signing agreements aimed at deepening already close ties between the two allies.

Mr Castro is due to meet Vice-President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier Li Keqiang, who are widely expected to take over China's top leadership posts.

On Thursday he met President Hu Jintao and signed several co-operation deals.

China pledged to aid Cuba with a new credit line and with health care and technology.

The promises were part of a series of agreements between the two countries, reports said, although no details were given.

Mr Hu urged more co-operation with Cuba on trade, energy, infrastructure construction, agriculture and biotechnology, state-run Xinhua news agency said.

Mr Castro's four-day visit is his first to China since taking over the leadership from his brother, Fidel, in 2008.

The Chinese will be in our backyards soon.

It's about ENERGY and OIL.  A client of mine is a pilot/captain for the BIG OCEAN TUGS....he took the rigs out of the Gulf of Mexico when Obama shut down drilling and he says the rigs he took away for servicing are returnig to the Gulf - by CHINA!

Our current administration could care less.  We're going to have Russian missle's in Venezuela so Chinese in Cuba is no big deal to these folks.

You are right as usual Wallace, the Chinese see an easy way to do business without US intervention.  But lets be sure about something, the oil companies agree with this also.

The current administration doesn't even consider Cuba in its plans.  Not because it isn't important, but because those affected are not on it's special interest list.

Personally I am not threatened by China doing business with Cuba.

I am threatened by China having a base that close to the US, using Cuba to send in spys, moniter communications, build oil platforms and docks, etc.
