I know that it may be a little "over the top" to be so excited about road construction. But when I drove from Conroe to my church in The Woodlands this morning, it was quite a thrill. The southbound lanes across the San Jacinto river are OPEN!!!
It apears that the northbound lanes will be open very soon. There is a little debris and construciton equipment on the newly constructed road. But it won't be long before we can cross the river without the nightmare of congestion.
For those of us who travel that section of I-45 on a regular basis - at irregular hours - it has become impossible to anticipate the amount of time it will take to reach our southbound destinations. Having a completed highway across the river is a welcome addition to our daily planning.
I know that some will see my excitement over a stretch of road a little excessive. Those that know me expect my joy over the "little things in life". It is part of my personal philosophy to find things to celebrate as often as possible. And this stage of completion on an overly traveled highway is an incredible thing to get happy about.
When you get to Conroe, your options for reaching Lake Conroe or Huntsville or places beyond or in between become plentiful. If you do not know of all the alternative routes, contact me and I can give you many options. For now, just be happy that we have a way to get from The Woodlands to Conroe without resorting to congested slow traffic or multiple miles out of our way. HOOOO -RAAAAH!!!!
