Winter Silence at Cherry Creek State Park

By
Real Estate Agent with Rocky Mountain Homescapes, Keller Williams, Denver Colorado

In summer, Cherry Creek State Park is filled with bikers, hikers, traffic and boaters. It is always busy because of its convenience to the Denver area and all the activities that it supports. The Reservoir takes on a different feel during winter, especially after a winter storm. The amazing beauty and silence makes it a wonderful place to visit in the winter too.

Around Christmas I spent some time enjoying the park. It was cold, but beautiful.

Winter options include ice fishing and cross country skiing. While I love riding my bike at the park during the summer, I have to admit that my winter visit was wonderful and I can't wait to go back.

Very pretty, I do not like cold however. I did rake leaves today as I will put out some weed and feed in a couple of weeks. Some of my early spring things are blomming already.

Eric- I know your weather in New Orleans is much different than it is here in Denver.  I guess I'm one of those girls that likes every season. No raking for me and I won't fertilize for a couple more months yet. Thanks for visiting!

Steck, what kind of camera is that?  You always have it with you, don't you?  The lens is huge!

Jennifer,  I was just thinking this morning, as I looked out at the freshly fallen snow (all of our previous snow had melted due to spring like recent spell), how silent snow makes everything...like a hushed blanket over the landscape.

Cherry Creek State Park looks very beautiful, do people swim there in the summer?

Mike- I do have my camera with me always. It is a Canon Rebel and I love it. It's been with me to South Africa, Amsterdam, Yellowstone and I'm hoping to take it to Antarctica later this year. I love digital!!

Jo- I love the blanket of silence when it snows. It almost seems like we are in a different world. Cherry Creek State Park is amazing. People do swim in the summer and there is lots of hiking and boating. My favorite thing is the summer bicycling. You'll see a hundred bicyclists there on a weekend. They range from people like me who take it slow and easy to competative cyclists. It is also very close to Denver. I live about 8 miles away.

Mike- I will be celebrating my 50th birthday and wanted to celebrate with a memorable, once in a lifetime, trip and I couldn't think of a more amazing place. Maybe I'll upgrade to the newest Canon camera as a present.

Jen-What a fun place and the snow does look so cold in the pictures.  What am I talking about? We've been covered in snow for the past 2 months.  I'm getting ready for spring.  The fever is on!

Julie-  You have beautiful wintery scenes there too. I'm actually not quite ready for spring yet. I could use another few snow storms, but I'd like to see the 2 degree weather leave. We call it stock show weather since the event is currently in town. It always seems to get very cold while the cowboys and cowgirls are here.

Jennifer, I need to talk to you about that lens.  My daughter has the Canon camera and wants a long lens for it, but I have had trouble finding one.  Your pictures are great!  Not enough snow though... :)

Joanne- I'm sure we just have a light dusting compared to the deep powder up in your neck of the woods. Ski conditions sound fabulous! I'd love to talk to you about the long lense that I have. I bought it at one of our local camera shops.

Jennifer, That's a lovely spot.. Is it nearby your home? I can see why it's a great place for biking.. BRRR I left the cold and snow behind in NY and don't miss it at all. I love to see it in photos though!

Ginger and Roger- The park is about five miles by car and eight miles by bike from my home. It is a wonderful place to ride. While things are a bit cold for me this week, I can't imagine living someplace where there is no snow. North Carolina is such a beautiful green place. I can understand why you love it. I'll be visiting this spring and I can't wait to get there.
