White Oak Farm, Renick WVIf you like blueberries, you can pick your own at White Oak Farm  in Renick, WV.  We were up early to go blueberry picking and from Lewisburg, this was a beautiful scenic 30-minute drive to Renick, a rural farming community.

Upon arriving at the White Oak Farm in Renick, we parked and walked over to the purchasing area.  We were given buckets that had a rope that you tie around your waist, so your hands are free for picking.  Each bucket had a plastic bag liner.  Once you are finished picking, and go to check out, the bag is taken out of the bucket and weighed.

bags of blueberriesOur buckets were full of blueberries.  We picked a total of 16 pounds and the cost was $28.00.  We had two and a half buckets and we were there for one hour.

The owners, Max and Anne Robinson, use minimal pesticides, to produce naturally healthy berries. They are grown in mulched beds with mowed aisles that really made it easy for us to access the berries with ease.  The Robinson’s suggest …. before freezing the blueberries clean the berries, removing stems and leaves...BUT DO NOT WASH.  Put them in freezer bags, and wash the berries when you are ready to eat them.

Blackberries at White Oak Farm!  Sounds great Rebecca.  I really like blackberry jam or hot fresh blackberry pie.  The foodie in me coming out I suppose :)  Good prices at White Oak Farms too.

Rebecca,

The pictures say blueberries...I love them both.  It is definitely blueberry season around here, it seems they are everwhere I look on sale and fresh at the Farmers Market. A

John, my mistake...I had blackberry in the title when it should have been blueberries.

Kathy, I will be making blueberry pancakes tomorrow for my neighbors; and some blueberry cobbler.

Roy, I fixed the error.

Ron and Alexandra, I guess I had blackberries on the brain when I was adding the title :)

Anita, my husband does as well...he puts blueberries on his Cheerios :)

Rebecca, I wish I lived just 30 minutes from the White Oak Blueberry Farm.  Enjoy.  Great pictures & collage.  We just had dark cherries as evening snack, but they are from Yakima, Washington.  Yum-yum.

16 pounds of blueberries!?! When I was a child, my Grandmother lived on a farm with acres of wild blueberries. We would pack a picnic and tie bags around our waists and go and pick until the sun set. The next day, Mom and Grandma would make pies for hours and hours and hours. It was heaven! Thanks for stirring up great memories!
