Come to the Fair!
This weekend is the beginning of our 18 day California State Fair (July 12-29, 2012). One of the great things about living in the Sacramento area (our capitol city) is that we can attend not only the Sacramento County Fair,
but also the State Fair!
You can find out detailed info at www.bigfun.org, including directions, parking information, fair hours, schedules of events and concerts, and even which days have special promotions with lower prices or other great deals. This website will also tell you each morning what the temperature is expected to be that day, so you can prepare.
While the fair is supposed to show off our state's industries, agriculture and diversity, most visitors to the fair just consider it to be pure fun!
Of course there are rides, carnival games and lots of "fair food", Wine, beer, water and soft drinks, exhibits of crafts and farm animals, sporting events and horse racing, demonstrations and competitions, but there are lots of concerts - some to reach all ages.
Concerts are included in the admission price (although you can pay a little for reserved seating). You can see and hear everything from Rick Springfield to Cody Simpson, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr to Notorious, Dave Mason to Hot Chelle Rae, Joan Jett to Jim Messina, and many others will be performing. Check the website for the schedule so you can see who will be playing each day.
Trust me - if you have never gone to the State Fair, make a point of going this year. The weather will be hot, so make plans to stay hydrated and you will have a blast!
Below is a map of the fairgrounds so you can see where everything will be. When you arrive, you will receive a program with a full size map, a schedule of all events and concerts, and complete information about the exhibits.
