17 Comments on Is Your High School Helping Home Sales?
Hey Joe-they sure do in most places. My folks moved us when I was 2 years old to a new home in the best school district in the area. From that memory I have always been mindful of this detail with buyers. Have a good one!
I like agents who can discuss their areas....good post and carry on
What a great service for people in your area Joe.. .I need to work on this for my own area. .Thanks for the inspiration.
I believe that the high school stats have a big effect on the home sales of those buyers with families.
Definitely a HUGE plus in the area I grew-up in. People made a mass exodus from the City of Chicago and southern suburbs to enter the school district of Lincoln-Way High School in the Lincoln-Way communities' area. So much so that it went from 1 small rural school with 4 feeder communities ... to a 4 huge seperate campus(es) district with additional property being purchased for further growth. Proof that the quality of the schools reflects greatly on the value of homes within the district ...
GREAT info and point made ...

Oh it makes a huge difference. Our site offers listings by school enrollment area searches, and we have gotten some good results from moving in this direction.
Still makes a difference in certain zip codes in my area. Buyers definitely search for homes based on school district, especially my favorite kinds...move up sellers! They usually want to keep their kids with the same friends.
Joe - Schools can make a big difference, and I think the graph is very useful.
Hi Joe, great post and great idea for a market report.
Marketing according to schools is a great idea, Joe.
Hi Joe, that is a great hype-local and marketing update rolled into one!
Unfortnately, my high school does not help. Many people do not wish to live in this school district if they have children.
I have not done reports by school boundaries yet. Good idea. Thanks for the in put.
Mission Viejo High School is one of the best athletic schools in the country for football. Also ranked very high for many other activities. Definitely buying in that district is a huge advantage for property values.
Families move into Rochester, MI for the award winning schools here. I feel very lucky to be working in this area. I don't have to sell them on the schools because it's common knowledge.
So...yes, you are correct, the quality of the school system is a good selling point and great value for the area.
