For a third time in as many years, Piermont is going French this July to Celebrate Bastille Day

Piermont, NY

Bastille Day—slated for Saturday, July 14—will commandeer Piermont Avenue from noon to 10 p.m. and feature a parade, traditional eats and a reenactment of the storming of the Bastille.

Sshowing up in a period costume is recommended. 18th century French-style hats and shirts—and bandoliers, for those with esprit de corps—will fit right in. Revellers who don't have provisions in their closets can pick them up at the fete.

Also on the calendar is live music, organized by the Turning Point and slated for an outdoor stage. This year will feature can-can dancing as well.

Many merchants downtown will pitch in and fit Saturday's theme—Xaviars , Sidewalk Bistro and Bunburys Coffee Shop will offer appropriate eats, anBastille Day, referred to as d Piermont Straus will host an exhibit for village resident Jana Kolpen, who recently penned a book situated in southern France.

In the Turning Point parking lot, there will be a pétanque tournament.

Bastille Day will overlap with the Piermont Fire Department's carnival, which is slated to run July 11 thru July 15 in Flywheel Park, and feature rides, games and fireworks.

Hi Vanessa - While this isn't celebrated much in this country, Piermont isn't the only Bastille Day party coming up on Saturday. Mary & I are having our 7th annual one at our house with a bunch of friends and some clients we consider worthy of partying with. Among the pretty standard party fare, there will be eclairs, French wine, and some people who will dress up, but it's basically just an excuse for a good time and it seems to come at the right time of year. I hope Piermont's is as much fun as ours.
