A Neighborhood 4th of July Tradition Continues
On July 4, 2000, with only about 20 families living in the community, The Riverfront at Harbour View 4th of July Parade was born. Children and families decorated their bikes, wagons, and even skateboards, and made their way down River Club Drive to show their patriotism in celebration of our nation’s Independence Day.
In those days, there were far more parade participants than spectators – but not anymore. Twelve years later, more than 800 families now live in this resort-style community in Suffolk, Virginia, and the 4th of July Parade continues as an event not to be missed, whether you’re ‘parading’ or just enjoying the spectacle.
And, as tradition has also established, the parade always ends with free popsicles for the kids, and a day-long party at the pool for everyone — a festival of food, music, games & prizes for all ages.
