360 Pensacola Beach Observation Wheel - Now Open!

The 360 Pensacola Beach Observation Wheel has opened to the public, and the initial reaction by beach visitors is one of excitement and enthusiasm. The 200 foot wheel features 42 fully enclosed, air-conditioned and heated gondolas manufactured in Switzerland, providing a 360 degree view of the Pensacola Beach area. You will be able to see 17 miles in all directions, with views of Pensacola Beach, the Bay, Mainland, Gulf Breeze and Navarre. The Wheel is the largest portable wheel in the world and the first of its kind in the U.S. with over 1 million white LED lights outlining the entire Wheel.

It promises to be a unique experience for both area residents and tourists. Of the 42 gondolas, twelve of them feature fixed tables in the middle which can seat up to six adults.  But no worries about losing your privacy, because if there are less than six in your party, you won’t be required to combine your ride with strangers. The ride lasts about 10-12 minutes, taking four full revolutions around the wheel, and is a true sight to behold.

Tickets for the standard ride are $15 for adults and $5 for children. There is one VIP gondola with leather bucket seats, limo-tinted privacy glass, a television, a champagne bucket and more. Cost for this gondola is $55, but the ride is twice as long.  The wheel will operate from 10:00 a.m. to midnight daily.

The owners are Todd Schneider and Al Mers, and in 2011 they opened a similar venture on Myrtle Beach called the Skywheel.  The $10 million investment will create approximately 40 jobs for the area, and will be an additional shot in the arm for the Pensacola Beach economy. Their hope is to make all of their attractions more than just “a ride through the air”, with plans to host dinners or other events. Not surprisingly, one gentleman has already reserved the VIP gondola with plans to propose to his girlfriend overlooking Pensacola Beach.  How romantic!
