From paintings and photographs to jewelry, catered dinners, furniture and travel packages, Greenbrier Valley Theatre’s 18th Annual Art Auction promises to offer something for everyone.

The auction, which is GVT’s largest annual fundraiser, will take place July 14 at 7 pm.  Among the items for auction are two beautiful paintings by artists represented by the Washington Street Gallery.

GVTs Art Auction, oil painting by David DiPietro

Pennsylvania artist David DiPietro’s “Reflections” is an oil on paper. DiPietro, an associate professor of art at Penn State University, has taught and painted in Italy and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, studying great paintings.  He is influenced by the Pennsylvania landscapes, as evidenced by the beautiful scenery in “Reflections.”

GVTs Art Auction, pastel by Lynn GoldsteinAlso up for bid at the auction will be “Brilliance,” a pastel donated by Lynn Goldstein.  Although Goldstein is a native of northern Virginia, she was born and raised in West Virginia and says she spent a great deal of time in Lewisburg, a town she says she loves.  Goldstein’s work has been represented by The Washington Street Gallery for six years. She donated “Brilliance in honor of her father, Arthur Goldstein, to whom she refers to as a “shining” beacon in her life.

Those who attend the auction will also have an opportunity to leave as the proud owners of “Three Muses,” one of the last works by popular Lewisburg painter June Perkins Anderson.

Anderson has exhibited throughout the United States and Europe as well as in many private collections and museums.

Morning Rebecca

My Dad use to call auctions of this type for private schools.  We always came away with great items at great prices and helped the kids too.  I enjoy auctions and am sure this will be a huge success.

Rebecca: We went to a local art auction a few years ago here locally...it was a huge success and I bet GVT's 18th annual one will be as well.

I wish we could attend this auction.  Dolores would be taking a close look at the jewelry.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Rebecca, the Art Auction sounds like they'll have something to please everyone. I especially like David DiPietro’s “Reflections” is an oil on paper.

Thanks everyone for the comments. We will be attending tonight, and will probably bid on a few items. Last year we came home with two new paintings.
