We have moved a lot.  A LOT!  Over time, in each of our new neighbourhoods, we have met the neighbours.  Some became friends and some stayed strangers.  In our current immediate neighbourhood, we have met and become very friendly with almost all of those who live close.

One of our very favourite people was Dom Herrick.  Yesterday, after a brief illness of only a few weeks, he passed.  We are going to miss him.  In particular, my husband and Dom have been gardening partners in Dom's yard for the past several years.  The photo is one I took in late June of this year while the 'boys' were out playing in the yard.  See they even started to look alike with Dom kneeling and Georges holding the bucket.  They went to hockey games together and generally like each others company.

It is hard to establish such an easy going friendship but Dom made it easy - for us and for all who knew him.  He was charming.  He took time to know you and to remember what was happening in your life.  He liked to have fun and he liked people.

They say good fences make good neighbours.  I am so glad there was never a fence between our house and Dom's so that we could go from good neighbours to good friends. We are going to miss you.

Rest in Peace, Dom.

Cindy:  Thank you.  Even in early June he had no idea how ravaged his body was.  He was so long in the neighbourhood that people will miss his terribly.

I'm sorry for your and your husband's loss. It's so hard to come by great neighbors nowadays, it's truly special. May his memory be eternal.

Valerie~ Sorry for your loss. It's a blessing to not only have a good neighbor, but a good friend so close by.

We've been fortunate to make friends with our immediate neighbors in our current neighborhood, but we haven't met many other people.  We're hardly ever home to have an opportunity.

Valerie, what a lovely testimonial for your neighbor Dom-it's very difficult to find good neighbors and you were all lucky to have each other.

Oh Valerie- that is such sad news.  It is not often that we get to have neighbors who are also our friends.  Those come along rarely.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and I am very sorry for your loss.

Kathy:  Dom was so well known and so well liked that the family has set up two different days for viewings and then a huge funeral.  He deserves this much acknowledgement.
