Helping a Colleague-Pay It Forward. The last 9 days have been really busier than usual for me because I have been Helping a Colleague-Pay It Forward. A
fellow agent who is a friend of mine had the opportunity to go to Italy and take a Riverboat cruise of the Mediterranean. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I wanted her to go.
I offered to look after her business for her while she was away. She had an offer in the counteroffer process when she left and a few buyers that were in the middle of looking for homes. Sharon left me with her files and lists of contact numbers. She briefed me on the situations with all of her in-process clients. I even visited her listings so I could speak intelligently about them if someone were to call.
So what is so special about this? I am helping a Colleague with no payment or reimbursement involved. I am doing this as an act of friendship. Where that may be rare in today’s real estate business, I did not want her trip hampered in any way thinking about how much commission she was losing. I didn’t want her to worry that I would take her clients or that she would be penalized in any way for taking a great vacation.
Helping a Colleague-Pay It Forward is just exactly what it is. It is helping someone with no payback. When you do something nice for a friend, it will come back to you with gratitude and a closer friendship and bond. Also you receive a really good feeling inside that you just cannot buy. There will be a time when I need help with my business and someone will step forward and be willing to help me. That is just the way it works.

Hi Debbie - That's exactly the way we always do it - we have a bunch of colleagues that all mutually cover for each other. I don't think the idea of paying for that help has ever occurred to any of us, and it seems strange to even consider it. I guess we're all very lucky that our colleagues are our friends.
Debbie, YOU ARE A GENEROUS, CARING individual. I recently covered for someone else while they were out of town and was happy to do it. Pay it forward!!!!
Hi Debbie~ That's the whole idea behind "paying it forward". You help your friend/colleague and she'll help someone and on and on until it comes back to you! Suggested!
Dick, That sounds like a great system of friends. It doesn't work quite that way here but I qould love it if it did.
Kathy, Thank you for saying that. I really just wanted to help a friend out, no strings attached.
Donna, Thank you for the suggest. My friend is a kind, giving person and she is always helping others.
What a great thing to do. You will get many friends I'm sure.
I think you are doing a wonderful thing. That's the way we work in my office. We help each other out when someone has a vacation or family situation. Karma will come back and reward you heavily for your actions. Have a wonderful evening.
Hope to find a partner like you here in Orange County and I would do the same for that person.
Gene, I am glad to help anyone when I can. This was a bigger contribution because of the length of time. But I'm happy to do it.
Debbie, You have a wonderful office then where everyone plays by the same rules. That is very special I hope you know.
Good for you, Debbie! I try to follow the "Pay It Forward" philosophy in all areas of my life too. As you say, it makes you feel so good and the rewards can be tremendous ....
Pete, I think that a lot of people would like to work an arrangement like tha t if we could just find out who they are. Good luck on your search for the right person.
Carie, I could tell that about you from your blogging. Your personality shines through.
Debbie, sounds like you embrace the concept of "TEAM." (together everyone achieves more) It will pay dividends! Truly enjoy your day!
Anytime you can assist and collegue, it's like putting money in a savings account. Hopefully, when you need assistance they will be there for you.
Great thing to do....and maybe she can help you out if and when you need some assistance. My broker and I cover each other, too.
