My ActiveRain Journey! Newbie to 500,000 Points! Hey, Newbies!

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Properties

Hey Newbies!  It can happen to you quicker than you can imagine!  Newbies, good luck in your continued journey in ActiveRain.  May the twists and turns you experience blogging in ActiveRain take you to higher levels in your business, networking and knowledge!

22 Months Ago My Life Changed!  From Newbie to 500,000 Points!  Points are good!  Money is better!  You can have both in ActiveRain!  Upon reaching the big 500,000 mark I now have a free ride in ActiveRain!  Thank you, AR Gods!

I have sent and received referrals - that's CA$H!  I have received business from my property blogs.  I received a gift card for $500. in an ActiveRain Contest.  I have gained recognizition among local business people from blogging about their business.  Exciting new opportunites have been offered as a result of my writing in ActiveRain.  I am working on one huge project now because of by blog.

I posted my first post in ActiveRain on October 13, 2010 and my life has never been quite the same!  I was completely clueless about the whole blogging thing, a rank newbie, stumbling along the blogging halls of ActiveRain.  Guess what!  My first post was FEATURED and earned a GOLD STAR.  I had no idea what the gold star was for, what having a feature meant or what the heck POINTS were.  My first thought was that maybe you could trade them in for prizes but I quickly found that they were much more valuable.  I remember thinking I would never reach 25,000 points and now I have 500,000.  WOW, pat myself on the back!  This keeps me number one in ranking in Rockwall County and Rockwall.  The climb upwards in Texas is much slower as there are thousands of good ActiveRain bloggers in Texas.  Now I am number 15 in Texas, but I realize it will be difficult to keep if I am not totally consistent in posting.

I did not know anything about commenting, but I received 46 comments on that first post.  What is even worse, is that I did not know I was supposed to reply to each comment.  Shame on me!  I did take care of that by going back and making comments later.  Better late than never, right?  I was also able to get a little picture in that first blog, thanks to having listened to the ActiveRain University classes before ever making that first effort.

Everyone loves a gold star!  Features are not everything and there are thousands of excellent posts not featured.  Some topics just don't get a feature.  Property posts and market reports rarely get a feature but they are important tStaro generate business.  The reward for posting Localism, property and market reports is that they generate business.  Value that - Gold Star or Business?  I'll take the business any day, but I do love those gold stars too and I am thankful for the 49 Gold Stars/Features I have received in the past 22 months.

I have belonged to many networking groups, real estate associations and groups, but nowhere.....I MEAN THIS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART....nowhere have I found a group as beneficial as ActiveRain.  I have made countless friends and I miss them when they are missing from ActiveRain for a few days or when I am as has been the case recently.  I love it when an ActiveRain friend calls me on the phone and I immediately know who they are.  I see their face and feel I know them better than many people I know locally.

ActiveRain is a big learning machine!  Don't know something?  Ask a question and you will get answers from some of the best of the best in the industry.  There is not a better place than ActiveRain to seek new marketing ideas and learn about the latest and greatest in technology

I should have blazed past the 500,000 Point marker months ago but I was missing in action, sometimes for days.  This was not by choice, but because life and business was coming at me fast and furiously.   My schedule was completely blown to bits and my writing had to take a back seat.  Oh how I missed those fun contests!  I missed my friends and felt jealous that they were rocking right along without me, but I knew they would be there for me when I was able to post again.  Thanks, friends!

Newbies, keep going, be consistent and when you have to drop back a little, don't let it become a habit.  You have to stay in the game even if at a slower pace!  The prize is worth all the effort!

Thanks to all my ActiveRain friends for a wild, wonderful and exciting ride! You are the best!

Congratulations to you.  I am jealous and I guess just a little impatient.  When will I get that 1st lead?  When will something happen?  I am very happy with my blogs but still too new at this, I guess.

Hi Barbara, I find it absolutely remarkable that you accomplished the 500,000 points in just 22 months. CONGRATS! That's a lot of dedication and, I bet, late nights. But you explained it so nicely - persistence is key. Once newbies understand - the learning curve we all took - that AR is so much more than throwing out a blog a day, it will become so much fun. And everything works out better if you have fun doing it!
