I have been NOT known to have a ‘Green Thumb’.  All my orchids (except for ONE) has died. My husband grows the vegetables and we have had nice salads with our Manoa and Spring Lettuce as well as making our OWN chili pepper (variety of Thai, Super Chili, Hawaiian peppers) for Chili Pepper Water (for sprinkling on Kahlua Pork) or for drying out and having a MEAN hot seasoning.

For the past three years I was bound and determined to nurture, nurse, talk to and baby the Pikake Flower plant my mom had rooted an planted for me. I didn’t give up and the ‘fruits of my HARD labor’ paid off this year with continuous blooms of the sweet and fragrant Pikake.  THIS has been the gift from my mom ….that finally keeps on giving.

From this experience it continues to remind me….

As in life and as in business….

Striving to fine tune my thinking with….

If at first I don’t succeed…..
TRY, Try Again.

Celests how cool that it finally bloomed after all this time.  Gorgeous!  And it's really special that it's a gift from your Mom.

Sally looks like you and my wife share the same talent for plants, they usually don't last long around my house either. But it is nice to see that you were able to change that trend with your Pikake Flower.

Looks like you finally found your green thumb.  Personally, I don't do well with plants at all.

Sally - that is a beauty! I am convinced the green thumb exists in all of us...even if sometimes it only applies to grass! Have a great day!

Okay, the flower is beautiful.  But I'm more interested in the homemade chili pepper.  Yummy!

Hi Sally - I know that many years from now that plant will give you comfort when your mom is no longer here.  I have an azalea that is right outside our patio doors that was my mother's, and whenever it blooms I feel close to her, though she has been gone for years.  I hope you and your mom enjoy it now, and that the day when you enjoy it for the memories is long in the future.

Sally - when it comes to gardens there are no success's or failures just learning experiences ..... sometimes it just takes longer to learn certain things.
