Well said. Perhaps the reason SEO is so mysterious is that is finally meeting the Wizard of OZ.
Turns out your secret is....what has worked for decades - hard work, consistency, relevancy and integrity. Thanks for a great post. It's nice to hear that neither smoke & mirrors nor uber-technical skills are necessary to achieve good SEO results.
It's not magic it's just lot's of hard work and f/u. We've been at the top of the first page, usually #1 on our site for several years and it's taken our company Nationwde with just a few good key word phrases.

Definitely right. Lots of content is the trick. Good to spice it up with the right key words that people are actually searching though.
What "hard work", are you crazy? There must be a government program that would do everything for me because I just heard that someone else built my small business.
Richard- I've always noticed your posts are well laid out and you have nice photos. I think that helps too but, agree that it's all about consistency and hard work. You get out what you put in. Great job!

This reminds me of a buddy of mine... When I ask him how he accomplishes something, I always hear that he is 'lucky', and just works hard... But this is just not true. There is no luck, and hard work without direction is fruitless. So, I have to disagree with the theme of this blog. There are many many 'tricks', known as SEO; this is not about a quick fix or instant results, but work towards a long term goal, and to do it right. Without having a clue, there is no way to have a top ranking site, when up against people who not only work hard every day, but know what they are doing. To learn what these 'secrets' are, you have to ask someone who shares. I am thinking of many many examples of ways to make these regular blogs a success, but that is a series of blogs to explain. Just writing is not all there is to it.
Having good quality content that people want to read. They'll find you. And you need to be the one so they can hear your voice in your blog posts rather than depersonalized content. I think!
