Legacy Properties SIR Hosts Fundraising Event for SailMaine (Portland)

Georgetown, Maine (July 17, 2012) – With the help of generous guests and well known ocean sailor Bruce Schwab, Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty’s Vice President, Kim Latour, of the Brunswick office, was able to help raise funds and equipment for SailMaine. SailMaine is a non-profit organization formed to support sailing in Maine at the grass-roots, community level. SailMaine connects people of all ages and abilities to the coast of Maine through fun and affordable sailing education, recreation, and competition, stimulating individual growth and creating community.

Bruce Schwab, an American sailor and ocean racer, and of Bruce Schwab Rigging and Systems LLC, spoke at the event. While most guests arrived by boat others also came by car. In addition to traditional donations and a silent auction, Jane Rodgers, the home’s owner, donated a Mercury sail boat directly to SailMaine.  This was an exciting opportunity for Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty to help benefit Sail Maine.  Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty specializes in luxury properties and Maine waterfront real estate.

Kim Latour, Vice President at Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, saw the perfect opportunity to host the fundraiser at “Whistle Down the Wind” when she first put the home on the market. “The setting is absolutely beautiful and the property has 1000 feet of water frontage on Robinhood cove,” said Kim Latour, who has a long family history in boatbuilding and sailing. The home, “Whistle Down the Wind”, is a custom built shingle-style home and has two moorings and a deep-water dock. This beautiful home was just reduced by over $300,000 and is now available for $1,495,000.
