Dew Drops-Gayle Rich-Boxman 2012

There is something about fresh dewy water on things that I just completely LOVE!

It was fun to take really close photos of the new dew right after I’d had the landscaping watered.

My new camera, a Canon Rebel T3i is what I used with a 55-250 Image stabilizer macro zoom lens. Couldn’t tell you what setting I put it on as I still am figuring out all of the workings—a lot of trial and many errors. But, that’s one of the many joys of digital; you know IMMEDIATELY if you screwed up!

If you look really close, you can see the strands of grass reflected in the dew drops on the bottom and even on the strand of grass on the left.

Very cool! I like to try and photograph the dew and water drops, but I never remember to bring the tripod. They are certainly never as clear as your shot.

Gayle,

What a delightful shot, and the dew drop is an example of so many things that go unseen until someone like you points them out in their full glory.  Happy Wednesday.  A

Gayle - great to see you enjoying your new camera and love your picture - beautiful! I also love the morning dew, especially when there's a little fog/steam coming off the ground. It's such a peaceful feeling. Of course you know I have a Lucy story since she's always on my mind, lol, but whenever I take her out first thing in the morning she prances like getting her feet wet is so horrible when there's dew on the grass. My dog really thinks she's human, and a prissy one at that!

Really neat stuff, Gayle!  I haven't really taken a good opportunity to work with dew or water on subjects.  I have a pretty good macro lens to do so, and the thing has sat ignored in my camera bag.  I need to take it out and do something about that!

Hi Gayle,

Great photo and your macro lens did a terrific job taking that photo. I need to get one as I just take 20 pictures with my Cannon Rebel and get lucky to get one or two perfect. I need to buy a new lens and your photo gives me the incentive to do it.

Always love all your photos and this one is lovely. Thanks.

Hi Gayle, this moring on Flipboard, a photographer did quite a number of photos of water droplets and focused entirely on captruing the imgae within the water droplet. We should try something like that with the marco lens. I will keep my eyes open for an opportunity and you should as well. If I can get you the link to his photos, I will come back and add it here for you. Many of the photos looked your yours and then he went a step further and shot through the droplet to show the magnifying effect of the droplet. I am on my iPad so I will have to e-mail the link and then send to you. Sadly I can't add the link here because we only have html, when working on the iPad.
