Things to see when Boating on Lake Seminole in Seminole, FL

I love living in the Largo | Pinellas Park, FL area, and our family takes full advantage of the many opportunities to go boating in our area. One of the few freshwater boating options we have close to Pinellas Park and Largo is boating on Lake Seminole. Sometimes I do wonder if it isn't better to go boating on the many salt water canals, though, in particular when we come accross this sign, posted about 30 feet from the public boat ramp at Lake Seminole park, where we put the boat in:

How morbid is the school bus parked in the background?! - I sure hope the kids are at the playground and not swimming!

Tanja- I live in Delray Beach and we've boated and did some water skiing on Lake Ida.  We fished there off and on for over a dozen years until I saw my first alligator!  I guess if you live in Florida you have to assume that any body of fresh water could have an alligator in it.  Have fun whether it's on the lake or if you decide to try the ocean.

We are in Florida, I wouldn't be concerned if I was in a boat but jet skiing is probably not the best idea.

Tanja, I love Florida & getting out on the water is priceless! I have seen more & more of these new signs around with the added verbiage of "no molesting Alligators" just thinking out loud here, who would do that?? have a great night!

Alligators are a fact of life for us in Florida.  The best thing we can do is to make sure our kids are educated about them.
