When I Reach My Goal, I'm Donating My Hair To Locks Of Love

By
Industry Observer with No longer practicing real estate as of 2008.

Tomorrow starts the "real first day" of my diet, however I've been sticking to it since the 1st of the year anyway!!

I've decided that when I lose 75 lbs (or anywhere close to it) by the end of this year, I will donate my hair to the locks of love foundation

The photo I have here on this site and my website is an old photo (4 years old).  My hair is much longer now.  It is currently down to the middle of my back and probably by the end of the year, it will be down to my waist.  I'm really wanting to cut it off right now, but am going to force myself to reach my goal before I do it.  I want it to be longer so there will be more to donate.

When I do cut it off, it will probably get cut off to about my shoulders, so that will be a pretty long ponytail to donate.

I know I take for granted having something as simple as hair and complain about it quite a bit.  Having to wash it & blow dry it every day, color it, trim it, unclog the shower drain and sweep the bathroom floor every other day are things I find myself complaining about, when in reality, I should be grateful.  I'm certain if I didn't have hair, I'd probably wish for those things all the time!

If you're thinking of cutting your hair and it's longer than 10 inches that you're wanting to cut off, please consider donating your hair to the locks of love foundation.

I wish you the best of luck on your goal.  I'm shooting for 20 pounds this year... and next year... and ten after that.  I'f I could walk and type, that would be pretty good...

My daughter donated to Locks of Love when she was in junior high.  I was SO proud of her!  She had seen her grandma go through chemo and lose her hair.  It's a great organization.  Thank you in advance for your donation and for posting about it.  Good luck with your goals!

Bringing you home...

I just donated mine about a month ago. I couldn't take it anymore. I love it short again! Yeah for the motivation.

Hi Becky - what an admirable goal, both for your hair and your weight.  I'm working on making a few lifestyle changes that include changing what I eat.  My hair's not long enough to donate, but I do admire you for doing what you are.

I'm pulling for you!!

Wonderful Post Becky and very worthy cause.....My Youngest Daughter Kelly ( who is away at College - Purdue now) has been growing her hair long since grade school. Every year we do something special to adopt a needy family or visit a childrens hospital with gifts at Christmas. This year due to her final exams,  Kelly missed the family event of giving - when she came home from school for Holiday Break to our amazement  her hair was short - she felt she had to contribute somehow to the needy- even though she was away from home, so she gave over 12 inches of her beautiful hair to locks of love!

Thanks for sharing this

Sincerely,

Grace Safrin

Grace, your daughter sounds like a great person.  Glad to hear she loves to help out others!

Todd, I am going to take some photos this week so I will have them later in the year for comparison!  ;)  Thanks for the encouragement!
