Get Ready to ShowKeeping your Glenview area home spotless, tidy, and ready at a minute's notice for a home showing to a prospective purchaser--this is the life you find yourself living as a home seller in today's market. Of course, nothing can replace a regular maintenance schedule of running the vacuum, mopping, cleaning the sinks and stools, dusting and the like.

If you've ever wondered, however, how you can make life a bit simpler and have great showings of your home at the same time, here are some ideas to help you do just that!

Baskets--Have an ordinary clothes basket handy and when that much-desired call comes that a prospective buyer wants to see your home, you can be ready for them quicker than you can say, "Bring 'em on!" Run, (well, fast walking will probably work), around your home and quickly pick up things that shouldn't be lying around and drop them in the clothes basket. This will include such lovely items as your teen's dirty socks, your little princess' wet bath towel, last night's newspaper and tomorrow's homework.

Crumbs--Be sure all countertops, tables (and don't overlook the stove) where your family may have consumed food are spotless and have no discernible crumbs, drips or spilled salt or the like on them. Set a pretty plant on your dining room table, and push in all the chairs so they are straight and evenly spaced.

Toilets--Check the toilets and run the toilet brush over them as needed. Shut the toilet lid. Shut the clothes hamper lid.

Sinks--Quickly wash up any dirty dishes, (or as a last resort if you don't have time for dishwashing, put them in a plastic department store bag and put that bag into your clothes basket.) Have wet wipes at the ready and quickly wipe out every sink in the house. Be sure hand towels are clean and replace as necessary, putting the dirty ones in your clothes basket. Toss the used wet wipes in the trash.

Vacuum--If you haven't already done this earlier in the day, a quick once-over with the vacuum may be in order.

Trash--Bag up the trash, including all the stuff in those little waste baskets you have around the house.

Kids, Dogs, Clothes Basket and Trash--Throw the aforementioned trash in the outside trash bin and your clothes basket/de-cluttering device into the car along with the kids and any pets and off you go.

See, wasn't that easy? Your prospective buyer will think you have a maid who does nothing but keep your home spotless. But before you have buyers knocking down your Glenview door, you'll need a Realtor® who will let them know your home is for sale. Contact The Marla Schneider Team today to get the word out. We can be reached online or by phone at 847-657-3790.
