Tara (map) is located south of Greatwood off of FM 2759 or Crabb River Road. Tara is an older subdivision that was in the country when started. Most homes were built in the early 1980's. They range in age from 1978 to 1997. Many homes are in the 1200 to 1400 sq.ft. range in size which is small for these days. Homes in poor condition sell for as little as $51,000 up to $101,000 for older homes in better condition. Tara Section 5 has newer homes.many of which are in the $113,000 to $142,000 range and built in the 1990's. Tara Colony (map) homes were built from 2000 to 2002 Pioneer Homes (MHI) and vary from $100,000 to $142,000 and average $121,789 and 1955 sq.ft.
Schools and Colleges
Public Schools are provided by Lamar Ind. School Dist. with Velasquez elementary school at the edge of Tara off of FM 2759. and Reading Junior High School and George Ranch High School on FM 762 south of Bridlewood.

WCJC and the University of Houston have a joint campus closeby on west side of Sugar Land in Telfair. A Wharton County Junior College trade school is located in Richmond.
Sports and Entertainment
Lamar Little League baseball and Sugar Land Little League are available. Greater Sugarland Select Baseball (Nations) is available. FFPS Soccer (Fun Fair Positive Soccer) league is available for children. Lifetime fitness has a huge complex on SH 6 between 90 and 59. A YMCA is located on FM 762 in Richmond.
AMC has 24 theaters in Sugar Land near the Mall. Cinemark has a 12 theater venue at FM 762 and US 59. A new theater complex is being built on 99 near Long Meadow Farms.
Sugar Land has a minor league baseball team, The Skeeters. Constellation Field is located near alt. US 90 and SH 6. Come embrace our mosquito population.
Shopping.
There is plenty of shopping close by. The RiverPark Shopping Center is major regional shopping center anchored by an HEB supermarket and includes such tenants as RediClinic (inside of HEB), Bank of America, Walgreen’s, Blockbuster and a huge Star Furniture Showroom. Dining can be at Joe’s Crab Shack, Chick-Fil-A, Salt Grass Steakhouse, Chili’s, Starbucks and Whataburger. Another large shopping center with a Kroger supermarket and many shops and restaurants is located at US 59 and FM 762 very close by.
