IF I WERE INCLINED TO BE EMBARRASSED!!

It would be about what I see when I re-read a blog post on ActiveRain.

GEEZ!  Did I really write that??  YES!  You did!!

O.K.  I believe that many, if not most typing mistakes are simply caused by TYPOS.  Our reflexes take over and a similar word is typed by accident.  How many times I've typed "now" when I meant "not"???  Can't count them.  I almost did it just then when I typed "count" and my brain took over and I actually typed "county".

Why???  It's those reflexes.  HEY!  I'm just glad I have some reflects left!

Do You Read Your Own Posts

That might sound rather silly, but stop and think for a moment. Do You Read Your Own Posts?

We as bloggers are ever on a quest to write. Oh my, I just Googled 555 Why Is There No Post Street and I need to rank for that term! So off to the races we go. But do we remember the races of the past?

If you're an organized blogger, (Lord knows I try, but I could spend a month of Sundays cleaning up my Active Rain blog tags) you might be able to quickly refer to a post, or series of them from your tag list. But, do you ever actually go back and read them?

This post is inspired by a post I wrote in June, 2011, The Top 5 Regrets People Have On Their Deathbed. Why? Well some how, an Active Rain member found this post, and put a comment on it this past week. A WHOLE YEAR LATER!!! (a.k.a. put it on the Internet....) So, it made me stop and read the post.

Depending on what you write about, it's like reading your own journal! This post was done while I was home for my annual family visit. It brought back those memories. But, as I read the post, it made me realize I still had not done the very things I said. If you read it, I make mention of a picnic basket in my basement that has never been used. I mention putting it in the trunk with a blanket, cooler and be ready for that impromptu picnic. Guess where the picnic basket STILL is?

Stop and smell the roses. I have cannas in my yard that bloom right next to my mailbox and I miss they are blooming until my partner points them out.

I need to get better at it all. And maybe I need to read my own posts.

It is so easy to make those typos so it's good to have a friend or two out there looking over your shoulder to help you out and let you know.

I reread them which is sad to say because I sometims miss errors. But I learned that A/R spell check does not catch the errors all the time

Charlie.  That's true, but I suspect that's because of synonyms and antonyms.

I got back and read my own stuff all the time to find errors.  Spell check won't catch grammar errors.

Lenn- I do try to catch my "oops" moments but I can't be responsible for anything typed after 11:30 PM!  LOL
