Santa Clara County Koi Pond Tour July 21st, 2012
On July 21st the Santa Clara County Koi and Water Garden Club is hosting their 21th Annual Koi Pond Tour. Six Club
members open their backyards complete with Koi Ponds to the public. Docents are present at each pond to answer questions about Koi and Koi Ponds.
The tour usually features a wide variety of ponds from small, store-bought ponds to money-is-no-object 35,000 gallon ponds complete with islands, imported boulders, waterfalls, and more. Two years ago one of the ponds on the tour had an underground "basement-like" viewing room akin to those at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The size and quality of the Koi also will vary.
Everyone is welcome. The Pond tour can be extremely educational for people thinking about building Koi Ponds or Water Gardens. It's also an entertaining outing for the curious. Many of the yards are beautifully landscaped. Children and adults enjoy watching the brightly colored Koi, called swimming jewels, and learning about them.
The cost of admission for the entire self-guided 6 pond tour is $15 for adults, $5 for teens and children under the age of 12 are free. Tickets are available at all pond sites and visitors may start the tour at any pond. The addresses are shown on the map below.
I'm scheduled to be a Docent at Pond #C from 12:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please say hello if you stop by. The tour opens at 9 am and ends at 4 pm. Nothing is being sold although we're always looking for new members. The Club is a non-profit corp of local Koi hobbyists and the tour is its largest annual fundraiser.

Hi Judy,
The Pond Tour was a big success, thank you.
I saw horrific news today about Oklahoma fires. Hope all's well in Idabel.
