Have you heard? National Dance Day is Saturday July 28th, 2012! Did you know Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer and Judge for the “So You Think You Can Dance" television series created National Dance Day?
It is an annual event that started with an old-fashioned grassroots initiative to encourage the nation, no matter what age, to get their bodies moving!
In Austin, Ballet Austin is participating by offering classes through their Butler Community School. All levels of skill are invited to participate.
On National Dance Day the US Postal service is getting in the act by paying tribute to four influential choreographers: José Limon, Katherine Dunham, Bob Fosse and Isadora Duncan. They will be offering innovative choreographer stamps…sure to be a hit!
