Long Island Feng Shui Consultant Carole ProvenzaleCome to The US Open in Bethpage, Long Island!  The pictures here will tell the story of this lovely place, Bethpage State Park.

It has recently been announced that once again Long Island, New York will host the 2009 US Open at its famed Bethpage Golf Course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York.  This beautiful and challenging golf course and  State Park is so large it extends into both Nassau and Suffolk Counties and borders the towns of Farmingdale, Bethpage, Old Bethpage and Plainview.

We were thrilled to have the US Open held here in 2002 at their famous BLACK COURSE which was designed by architect   A. W. Tillinghast  and is one of the most challenging courses in the Country with it's narrow fairways, high roughs, well placed borders and small greens.  Some consider this his finest work.  This historic building was opened in 1932 and in addition to the huge expanse of golf is home to two restaurants, one of which is The Oak Room which has won awards and a wonderful catering facility at which many events are held including weddings (call early to book!).  Every year The Bethpage State Park caters an event for all members of the Department of Parks and Recreation at this lovely site.  Two years ago they hosted one that was about Wholistic Health and I was included as a presenter along with many other modalities of all natural healing.

They were kind enough to allow me to share these photos of this Bethpage State Park.  In addition to golf, they also have picnic facilities, tennis courts, brindle paths, hiking, biking and cross country skiing along with a beautiful nature trail.

Tiger Woods won the 2002 US Open on the very difficult black course and it's no surprise.  Tiger says he always wears RED when playing an Open because it provides him with the Energy he needs to WIN (sound familiar?). I just could be that he knows a thing or two about Feng Shui.  I'm sure many of us are looking for a win from him again!  In addition to several large hotel chains, be advised that some people's homes back up to the course; in 2002 some actually rented out their backyards or parts of their homes to the many visitors from all over the country who attended.

If you'd like information about booking an event or about the US Open, please feel free to call them at (516) 249-0701.  Enjoy some of the pictures of this fabulous place.  Here's a Tour with the pictures telling the story:

Carole, it looks like a lovely place!  I have never seen a sign like that on a golf course (this may have something to do with the fact that I don't play golf!) and it would intimidate the heck out of me :)

Carole,

It looks absolutely stunning there....I would love to roam around and explore the grounds sometime when when no golfing is going on.

Beautiful pictures and how wonderful that you were included as a presenter there in their beautiful Event Room...that's quite an honour and I'm not surprised at all that you were asked to give a presentation.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful place with us,

Jo

Hi Carole,

Great pictures and post. I would love to go to an Open! I love golf...not very good at it though! We are going to Palm Springs in March to golf I can hardly wait. It also looks like a nice place to spend a day. I use to play tennis  when I was younger and tons of squash I loved squash however my knees didn't!!

Are you going to see the Open? If you are.....are you lucky!

Fernando, You're both welcome to pop in, you can do the cooking with your culinary skills you have! :)

Lisa, I think it's meant to scare people off, you have to play really well to play this course.

Jo, The park is spectacular with things to do winter and summer!  And that room has the most beautiful views of the golf course, it is wonderful that they put something on for all the employees every year and that I had been invited to be part of it.

Trace, I couldn't get into the last one, it is very expensive but it would be a wonderful thing to see.  It's an honor that they got to have the Open there again and if I can go, I certainly will!

Sharon, The Oak Room and the entire interior is just beautiful with dark woods and lush colors. Although it's a historic building they have taken wonderful care of it.

Elizabeth, Thank you, I do too!  That way I can see things I never would have seen before or known about..I really do love others localism posts!

Hi Carole:  Looks like a stunning place which I just love golf courses because they are so picture perfect.  I would love to drive a golf cart around and just enjoy the scenery.  Wish golf was something I had had the good sense to take up when I was younger.  I think it is a very interesting sport.  You make me want to come to New York and that's saying a lot because I'm a country girl!

Katerina, I had a lovely time and they were so nice to allow me to shoot some of the indoor pictures.

Donna, This is wonderful news for our economy actually.  During the 2002 all the hotels were filled and people were literally renting out their backyards to those with tents!  It's a wonderful honor for this incredible park as well (I don't golf either but I do drive golf balls :)

Hi Carole,
Lovely, lovely place and how exciting.  Are you going to try and attend?   It will bring in lots of people spending money at hotels and restaurants.  That's good!

Cynthia, Are you kidding, do you know what I could get for my house that week?  lol...it's funny that people were literally setting up tents in people yards (and those people made a lot of money :)  I don't know if I can attend, I know it's expensive but they were just chosen and it's wonderful for our town--I am going to look into the prices.

Maria, You and your son are welcome to come and stay, my basement is bound to be back together by then!  I am one mile from the Golf Course.

Joan, I have been having trouble with getting my pictures to load, I took a zillion and the inside of that place is just lovely, very posh and elegant!

Jem, I can't imagine what I would make for the week if people are renting their backyards :)  I'm curious to see what the tickets cost, I can walk there.  Thank you for your comment.
