Maureen, interesting question if "schools matter or not for condominium owners". Here is Los Angeles because the average home is so expensive many people are forced into Condominiums who would love to own a home but can afford it....to them yes the schools are important, even to the ones that become "renters for life" as well. A perfect example is The Beverly Hills School System people from all over the world want to be in it.
Endre Central Ohio is so affordable, most people with kids would opt for a single family home, even as a rental.
