Are you thinking about moving to Lafayette, Louisiana? If you are not and you are currently unemployed, you should be. On both the "2012 Best Cities for Job Growth" ranking by New Geography and in a new report from IHS Global Insight, Lafayette tops the list for job and economic growth.

Lafayette, LA is at the top of the list for job creation

On CNN Money's Economy blog, wrote: "Lafayette is expected to have the nation's largest gain in jobs among metropolitan areas, thanks to its booming energy sector, according to a new report from IHS Global Insight. Employment is expected to soar 8.8% this year, while the area's economy should jump 7.5%."

Unemployment has remained low in Lafayette during the past few years compared to the national average. For the real estate market, it means fewer foreclosures and steadier prices. When people are working, they pay their mortgage.

If that doesn't get you thinking about moving to Lafayette, maybe the food will. So far this year, Lafayette has been named the “Tastiest Town in the South” by Southern Living magazine,  and Parade magazine named Lafayette’s Dean-O’s Pizza the fourth best in the nation. Last year, Lafayette was chosen as “Best Food City in the USA” in the  Best of the Road USA Today contest. Truth it, and as a friend of mine once said, you can get better food here at gas stations than you can in most cities in restaurants!

And then, there's the music, the festivals, the culture, the French language, and the overall "Joie de Vivre" you'll find here in Cajun Country. This year,  Festival International de Louisiane was named Best World Music Festival in the Reader Choice Awards from About.com, a Gallup Wellbeing poll found Lafayette's residents to be the second most optimistic in the nation and Livability.com named Lafayette as the fourth best spring break destination for families for 2012.

Do I really need to add more? Why don't you come down and check it out for yourself? I know you'll want to stay so keep my information and contact me when you are ready to buy a house and grow some roots in our beautiful Cajun Country.

Congratulation on a job well done Lafayette.  I love to hear success stories.  I'm getting tired of the negative stories and the negativity of the press.
