The Long Beach Pyramid opened November 30th 1994; I happened to be one of over five thousand in attendance as Long Beach State put a beating on the University of Detroit. On March 5, 2005 the Long Beach Pyramid officially received its name; (Walter Pyramid). The Walter Pyramid is a nationally recognized as the icon of Long Beach city and CSULB. California State University, Long Beach, is known for the best facility in the western United States! The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach attracts huge attention because of its multi-purpose use.

The Pyramid is appropriately named after Dr. Mike and Arline Walters; there long time support over the years has been tremendous, their one time gift (2.1 million dollars) is the single largest donation to CSULB Athletics. Dr. Mike & Arline Walters forever changed the skyline and there long time support is truly amazing.
Nelsons Construction Company based out of San Diego and architect Don Gibbs designed and built this amazing structure, the reported cost of the construction was around 22 million dollars. It’s reported nearly 200,000 visitors pass through the 18 story cobalt blue Walter Pyramid, the Pyramid features include state-of- the- art conference centers, the actual floor space can fit three basketball courts plus four half courts basketball courts on the activity floor, a modern fitness center, and so much more.
The Walter Pyramid is not only for the students of CSULB, the Walter Pyramid has a modern fitness center, “Frogs”, and the fitness center allows the public to purchase memberships. The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach truly is a spectacular piece of art. The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach California!
