4 Comments on What's Your Ecological Footprint?
Hi Erica - Thanks for the link - like you, I try to be as environmentally aware and responsible as possible. I did the test and it was interesting, disheartening and embarrassing, all at the same time. But it was also revealing how much is simply a function of where we live in a macro sense. Very interesting post!
Great analysis. There are lighter weight all wheel drive SUV's Erica so something to consider. I am amazed when I look at the trash each week how much plastic there is in everything to go to the landfill.
Erica - Thank you for sharing detailed quality information on what's your ecological footprint.
Awareness, of course is always the first step. We too live in a rural area with a very steep topo, yet we manage to show 95% of it in a Dodge Caliber with just front wheel drive. Ditching that Hummer as much as possible, if not completely, would probably make a drastic difference in your footprint.
We too eat a lot of chicken and until recently, thought that was a good thing to do. But with all the damage commercial chicken farms are creating, not to mention the increased incidence of antibiotic resistant illness people are getting because of the antibiotic use in chicken farms, we have decided to head as much toward vegetarian eating as possible. Next stop, is growing our own.
