Sushi by the Capitol
Annapolis State House
... the State Capitol in Annapolis that is. Annapolis, MD is a special place for us and close enough to visit (a lot). We like to stroll around historic downtown, take in the view from the city dock, go treasure hunting in the charming stores, stand in awe of history ... and get some great dinner.

There's no shortage of fantastic restaurants in Downtown Annapolis. Sadly, the place where we shared our first sushi dinner a decade ago is no longer there. Others have filled the void, however, and have become favorites among locals and visitors alike.

I highly recommend Nano Asian Dining at 189 A Main St, Annapolis, MD. Sans the typical Asian decor it feels more like a bistro (which is a good thing) - it is decorated with art work from local artists instead. The sushi is AMAZING. I'm no food critic by any means, just a gal who loves good sushi.

A sushi bar will pass my taste test if:

  1. my favorite roll is the perfect combination of cream cheese and salmon with the smoky flavor of the salmon lingering for awhile

  2. the last - gone too fast - 2 pieces on the plate will elicit a sigh and bring about a certain amount of sadness.

The service at Nano Asian Dining was fast and pleasant, our ice tea was refilled at just the right times and a request for more wasabi was fulfilled promptly and was plentiful. The sushi at Nano Asian Dining easily passed my taste test with the last two pieces eliciting a rather big sigh.

Nano Asian Dining - Sushi

We shall return for more sushi by the Capitol,

... to Nano's.

I love sushi too, although my daughter got such bad food poisoning from in last year, that I've had a hard time trusting it again.  This place in Annapolis sounds great though!  I love going to Annapolis!

I love faux sushi where everything is cooked.  I feel bummed about your "place" closing.  I know that feeling, the diner that Donald and I had our first meal together at was torn down.  Sad sad day.

Andrea, I love Annapolis.  I almost always stop at Hemingways once I cross the bridge.  It's one of my all time favorite places to eat.  I haven't been there for a few years.  I hope it's still there.  8-)

Hi Brenda, I could have a sushi night every week :-) We'll be heading back to Nano's soon I suspect.

Hi Melissa, uhoh, that doesn't sound good! I remember one time when the sushi we got didn't sit very well with me ... needless to say we never went back to that place.

Hi Elyse, I'm glad - perhaps we'll see a blog about your favorite sushi place in Boca Raton soon? :-)

Hi Tammy, I'm pretty picky and stick with the stuff I know. I just love the cream cheese and salmon and cucumber.. avocadoes.. not a big fan of squid and eel. I'll leave that to hubby. Yes, we were pretty disappointed when we found out that "our" place is no longer there. Nano's is just a few doors down though ..

Hi Mike, I'm pretty sure Hemingways is still there! We should make plans to meet up there next time you are headed our way!
