A federal survey finds that 25% of banks say they've tightened underwriting, but 10% say they've eased their standards. Read more.

The housing industry says banks’ tight mortgage standards have prevented many potential homeowners from buying a home. But a new survey by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) shows that may be changing. More banks are finally easing their standards, which could open the door for more buyers to qualify for a mortgage.
