If you are interested in island living, consider Anderson Island.  My family and I lived on the island from 1993 through 1998 on Lake Josephine.

My husband and I thought, "wouldn't it be nice to have a weekend home?"  Next thing you know we purchased a lakefront lot on Anderson Island.  It was within the Riveria Community.  We owned a lumber wholesale company so we were able to supply most of the finish wood products for the home.  It was an A-frame style with over 10 species of wood inside and cedar on the outside.  It turned out beautiful and took almost 2 years to build.

However, before you knew it, we had 1 too many houses and decided to sell our main home and move to the island.

Our sons at the time were in elementary school and attended the Anderson Island Elementary School.  It was a huge change for them as we moved from the Lake Tapps area to Anderson Island.  In 1993, there were only apprx 20 children in the entire school.

Our sons loved the island as they road their bikes everywhere, swam at the swimming hole, swam across the lake from Lake Josephine across Lake Florence!  Yikes, I didn't like that one!  They drug our small fishing boat across the roads from lake to lake, they built BMX style bike trails in the woods (they were extensive - my oh my), they climbed the clay banks on the sound (another dangerous thing I didn't know about), and yes, they had so much fun.

Our dog Katie even loved the island.  When she wasn't walking around the lake each morning with Ruth Luberts, she could be found hanging out at the store, and at the park begging for food from the picnickers.   During our daily search for the missing dog, we were heading towards the park thinking she'd run off to visit the people.  Suddenly, Katie comes running towards us heading home as fast as she  could.  We wondered what she was doing - well, she had a full package of hotdogs in her mouth.  I imagine she was heading home for a BBQ!

Anyway, if you are considering moving to the island, I'd be happy to assist you.
