I just had a Big Mac Attack!

It has been a long time in the making (decision making that is) regarding the purchase of a new laptop.   I have researched until blue in the face, pondered pitifully and run the whole pro/con list from top to bottom and over again.  I have said it before but Debbie and I can over analyze what cereal were having for breakfast so deciding on a new laptop was a daunting task to say the least.

I moved into an iPhone a couple of years ago and love it, then stepped into a iPad2 about aJohn McCormack goes mobile with iphone, iPad and MacAir. I just had a Big Mac Attack year ago and love it as well!  So when the time rolled around to step into a new laptop I knew a Mac would be in position near the top of the list of considerations.  My wallet was telling me to go PC “Windows” but my experience and instinct told me to go Mac. I struggle with those two opposing forces often because I’m frugal but also appreciate value and reliability. In short I know I get what I pay for I just hate paying for it.

So Yes I just had a Big Mac Attack after spending some quality time with staff at the local Apple store and a good bit of getting to know you with a new MacBook Air. I finally succumbed to the pressures and pulled out my BIG credit card!

This is one amazing piece of technology and just having it in your hands you know it's built to last and perform for many years to come.  The MacBook Air is light, lightning fast, crystal clear resolution, an excellent back-lit keyboard and just darn nice to look at.  We’re still getting acclimated to the Lion OS and general functionality of a Macintosh but already this MacBook Air rocks.

I had concerns about a Macbook tying it into my network but unlike windows, I simply turned it on it located my WIFI in seconds and installed itself onto my network with ease giving me access to my desktop files and folders.  Everything is so intuitive and easy to learn with this MacAir, I just can't say enough good about this newest entry into our world of technology that continues to propel us forward into the fast past real estate world.

If you're looking for a mobile Realtor that is armed and ready to show you MLS data quickly, provide comps on the fly and complete contracts and signing while in the field then call John McCormack, he is mobile and technology savvy to help you achieve your real estate goals quickly and professionally.

Way to go John, congrats on your "right" purchase.  I too am hooked on the Ipad and Iphone, won't consider anything else.  I always laugh when I see how easily something new runs, "these guys have done this before!"...

Enjoy your MacBook Air, may it bring you much success.

I would love to move to a Mac laptop since I already have an iMac and iPhone. Unfortunately the Realtor system we have here will not communicate with Mac products, only with Internet Explorer... Very frustrating!! So I'm stuck with PC for hopefully not too much longer :-(

Envious...

Congratulations, John and welcome!  I've been all Mac since May 2009.  I bought a brand new HP laptop in 2007 for almost $2000 to get the features I needed for graphic and web design and to get me through college.  Within months I was sending the laptop in to the manufacturer for "known" defects.  I ended up putting about $1200 into the Windows based laptop just to make it through school and my freelance work.  I took the plunge and bought a 27" iMac (I go big) and I have never looked back.  When I started consulting with Realtors, it was no question - I bought a 13" MacBook Air - refurbished from the Apple website (no issues with it either!).  Just Wednesday I converted my whole family to the land of iPhones..they have hijacked my iPad and they often hijack my MacBook Air.  Next purchase is the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display so I can let them play with my smaller toys while I do real estate marketing on my MBP.

To those that think Macs are an uneccessary waste of money, if you didn't do the math in the first few sentences of that last paragraph, I spent over $3000 on a Windows based laptop only to take it to a repair shop and have them tell me, "we don't want you to waste any more money on this..we'll offer to buy it off you for the parts."

You are correct. Get out that BIG credit card. Apple's newest financial figures "The Company posted quarterly revenue of $35.0 billion and quarterly net profit of $8.8 billion". That's $8.8 BILLION profit in just one quarter.

Congratulations on the decision--finally!!  My testimonial has never wavered with my MacBook Pro--I LOVE it!  I love my iPad and my iPhone as well and can't imagine life without them!  LOL

And, the orange shirt really shows off those Apple products--they should use you in a commercial!!

Happy Friday...

Congratulations on your decision, John. I have been on a Mac since 1984 and just in the past year have I been able to convince my spouse, a real estate professional for 30+ years, to switch to a MacBook Air. Her mood has improved considerably about technology. I have generally found that when you compare the features of laptops the price of the Mac is not substantially more than a comparably equipped PC.

I'll second Steve's #55 recommendation of checking out The Good Life Team in Austin. They have the info available on how to run your business on Macs and iPads and are very willing to share their methods.

Welcome to the club.

Your friend in Southern NM.

I used to be a Mac guy then I got into real estate and at that time my MLS was not Mac compatible.  Now I am PC and Droid.  Got a great HP Laptop about 1 year old.  I am scared of iPad because I think I might have to go Mac all the way to get everything working right.

However, I suspect within 2 years the lap top will have gone the way of the Beta VCR and I can do everything from a Pad or one brand or another.  I think the Phone will be an extenstion of the Pad that ties in with wifi.

What most people don't realize about me is that this isn't my real hair. It is actually a wig with a tin foil liner.

Congrats with the new acquisition.  Chief Cook wants her laptop to die so that she can get a Mac, too!

Ditto, Ditto and Ditto. Lost my Verizon LG and Janis insisted I replace it with an IPhone. PC crapped out and Janis took me to the Apple store and I walked out with a MacPro. Purchased APPL at 189/share and am now LONG ON APPL! I am now an official APPLE Cultist and loving it.

John,

Congrats on the new Mac and I totally understand the analysis of which lap top to chose. I went through this year after my hard drive in a Toshiba lap top died. I have a repair guy fixing the Toshiba as I amwriting this.  I ended up with a buying a refurbished HP as I have a CPA client who uses Quick books and Quicken and I was unsure how well that would work with a MAC. I have an I-Phone, a original I-Pad and plan to buy a new I-Pad shortly. Maybe I should consider the Mac Book Air. good blog..

I like all the comments you got. I am not sure why you were not featrued but I will suggest..
