Some More Reasons To Use Evernote ... as if you needed more!

I use Evernote for a few things like grocery lists now.  I guess I have been missing out because Sandy Nichols has some good advice for using Evernote for client documents.  I guess I have to rethink Evernote based on Sandy’s information.

Some More Reasons To Use Evernote ... as if you needed more!

I must admit, that I vastly underrated the value of Evernote. I initially used it to jot down grocery needs, and as an atm spending register.  Evernote.com

Then I really graduated! I found out that you can really use Evernote not only as the repository of all things vital (like my birth certificate, and passport) but also for what the serial numbers are for my key boxes, their shackle release codes and on what listings they are on. For listings, buyers, sellers and escrow transactions. For tracking vendors and receipts and expenses. For blog ideas, musings and to save url clips of things you must read later.

I am now using it for my blog drafts and when the blog is finished , it becomes the needed back up for it, without having to physically save it somewhere. It has a full editor and even counts the words. It can record audio notes, too.

Evernote has a powerful search function that allows you to search for whatever you are looking for with only a shred of something that you can remember. PDFs also become searchable.

For example: I knew I had my shackle codes somewhere on my computer. But what was the name of the directory or the folder I put it in? What was the name of the file I gave it? Is this my new list or my old list (Evernote automatically saves a 'created date' and a 'last modified date').

In using it for Real Estate you can create a notebook for each client, or transaction, or address, or however it works best for you. Then you can keep everything that occurs in that transaction together in one spot for ease of convenience. Contracts and forms can be kept here, as well as expenses, receipts, checklists, emails, videos, audio, texts and photos. Amazing!!

Here is an example of a transaction for which a termite report and a termite completion had been emailed to Evernote (yes, you can do that, too).

As you can see, it is checked off and you can create a link for it (it works the same as a
hyperlink). So, let's say you are on the phone with your transaction coordinator or escrow officer and they ask if you have received the termite report  and the completion report. When you see it checked off, you know you have it and right from that note, you can email it to them (no more searching for the hard copy, scanning, then emailing). Especially if you are away from your desk, you can complete this task as if you were in the office and not on the golf course because since it syncs with all your devices, you can be anywhere. How simple is that?

How I use Evernote

I'm learning lots more about it and will report back!
