Aberdeen Ironbirds at Ripkin Stadium

Friends of ours gave us tickets to see the Aberdeen Ironbirds at Ripkin Stadium last night and it was a fun night for all until the rain started.  My fiance Skip, my son Liam and I went.  We had 4 tickets, Liam's friend from scouts was supposed to go with us but he was sick, then my daughter Kristen wanted to go but at the last minute she had to work so we went just the three of us.

Ripkin Stadium is located off Exit 85 of I-95 in Aberdeen.  It wasn't as long a drive as I thought, we went up from Lutherville by way of Loch Raven Resevoir so as to avoid the rush hour traffic on our beltway.  It only took about an hour to get there.  The parking is plentiful and the stadium conveniently located off I-95 and close to restaurants if you want to eat ahead of time or after the game.

The stadium is great.  I don't think there is a bad seat anywhere in the stadium.  The seats are comfortable and there's you don't feel like you are right on top of your neighbor.  And, the people that work there are all very nice, polite and very helpful.   Last night was Christmas in July so Santa was on hand along with a lot of his helpers.  There were games and competitions for the audence to participate in between innings and we had a great time.  Thanks Val for the tickets, a good time was had by all!!

We have been to Orioles games in the past and that was fun, but for young kids it's a long time to sit and just watch a ball game.  The Ironbirds was different, there was entertainment the whole time, not just the ball game so if you are looking for something to do with younger children this is a great introduction to professional sports and may inspire them for later life.

And, the Ironbirds won 6-2!!

June, what a great post.  Going to a minor league baseball game can be such a fun time.  I can tell by the smile on your son's face that he is really enjoying the game.  Building family memories like that is just so important... and a smaller, more intimate stadium makes all that so much more exciting.

Gooooo Ironbirds !
