My first guess would be Jerusalem but since you said "things are not always as they seem" I'll go with a toga party at the beach.
I'm thinking it might be a fund raiser at the White House. You never know who you'll meet coming to and from there these days. Let us know for sure.

This was Back To Bethlehem held at a local church out in Loxahatchee. They own acreage behind the church and there they put on a full scale Bethlehem busy market place and you walk through all these places where people show how they lived back in the days when Jesus was born. THen you get to go to the manger and see baby Jesus. It is so authentic too!
Thousands of people come from all over to walk through the Back To Bethlehem reinactment.
I am happy to say I did guess correclty. Not the exact location but the event. I'm pretty proud of myself.
How cool is that! I can only think of one church around here that has that much room to do something like that. May have to suggest it to them as I know we would have lots of people help out and join in.
Todd- They plan for a whole year every year to do this event. They even pass out samples of bread made over coals, candles from those days, it is so authentic. They even speak in Hebrew. It was so cool . We look forward to going every year. THen the church's minister is dressed up as Angel Gabrial challenging each of us to live as Christ. It is really touching and moving. They then serve everyone hot chocolate and popcorn. All of this if Free. They don't even ask for donations.
I too was going to guess that it was some type of reenactment because of the folks I spotted in the background in t-shirts.
This sounded like a good event with folks putting a lot of time into it. Fun photo.
