I know everyone has their Christmas decorations down already, but we are still working on it.
Our Client Appreciation Open House and Holiday Party was after Christmas this year - thank goodness, or I wouldn't have been ready. The party was on Sat. Dec. 29th, and we were very lucky again this year. The weather was beautiful; it was cold, but not so much that people couldn't gather outside around the firepit.
I really enjoyed the party this year, more so than past years. Since it was after Christmas and not mid December, I think I was more relaxed and could just enjoy the company. The crowd wasn't as large as last year. We probably had 120-130 through the house over the course of the night. I love having the house full of people. The last stragglers left around 3:00 am. By that time, I was ready for bed.
There's always so much going on in the weeks before Christmas that I'm usually pretty stressed with having to get the house decorated for the party. I bring alot of it on myself. It doesn't do to have just one tree; we have to have six or seven full size trees fully decorated, in addition to all the other decorations throughout the house, and the outside decorations. We work for weeks getting ready. It sounds like I'm complaining, but we really do enjoy having the house look so festive, and it makes our guests happy. We've been doing it for years, and it's really hart to cut back.
Each year I say we won't decorate as much the following year, but when the time comes, it seems like a sin to have all the decorations and not use them.
Following are pics of our Christmas trees and decorations. Each year I try to do a different colored/themed tree in different rooms. I didn't have room for the pink/purple tree or the blue tree this year - we'll save those for next year...
