Valerie, Thanks for the lesson on how to fit in as one of the locals. I'm not much into that junk food though so I guess I wouldn't fit in.
This is a lesson for me...I'm not familiar with any of these items. Good thing I have you to coach me!
Valerie~ I had no idea that you had different snack foods in Canada. Maybe we need to exchange some "care packages", eh?
My Canadian friend brought me Smarties as a treat knowing that I love chocolate. I didn't know that you can buy them in Canada only. My friend did also mention the best ice cream ever that you can't find here in TX.
Good morning Valerie. As usual a funny and charming start to my morning, eh? Just loving it. Enjoy your day, my friend.
Hi Valerie,
With my Dutch heritage, I must admit that smarties were popular in Holland as well decades ago, but I am more a licorice person... I am happy to report that candy from many any place in the world can be found in our corner of paradise.
Yes,
Tea and crumpets or High tea at the Empress,
Dutch pastries, croquettes, and uitsmijter at the Dutch bakery
Schnitzel, bratwurst and sauerkrout at the Ratskeller
Deli's from every region in the world
Produce and home grown specialty foods right from the road side stands, picked that morning
Valerie - Too funny! Hey, you forgot another Canadian junk food classic... the Mackintosh's Toffee bar - guaranteed to removed even the most solid fillings from your teeth! Actually, I'm not sure they are originally from Canada or England, but I've always thought of them as a Canadian classic.
Peter: You make it all sound so good. Of course the saurkraut got me where I live. LOL
Sally: I must have eaten dozens of them as a kid - they lasted a long time - between dental appointments LOL.
Hi Valerie. I bet you didn't know that Hawkins cheezies are made in Belleville Ontario. Just one more reason to visit the Quinte area.
Malcolm: I saw it on the package that I bought for the post. We had some last night and it brought back all those cheezie memories.
Valerie,
This is one of the prime reasons that I miss AR. Thanks fot the mention.
