Why don't builders build rentals in active adult communities (for seniors.)?

By

I specialize in active adult communities and receive calls from seniors looking for rentals in senior communities. All seniors who downsize may not want to buy another home. They  may prefer to rent but may be  afraid to rent from private landlords who may want them to move out after a couple of years.

There are some homeowners in 55plus communities who do rent them out either because they may have bought planning to move in some day or some may not be able to live by themselves and may have moved in with their children . But these people do not plan on holding on to these homes as investments .

Builders reading this should seriously consider building communties as rentals and offer all the amenities that seniors look for.

If you are looking to move to an active adult community in a few years , you might consider buying now if you quailfy to buy , and rent it out for a few years. Before you buy, you should read this article .

Attention Seniors ! Here are some things to consider before you decide to move

They do build some 55+ rental communties in this area. And normally, there are a % of units that can rented out, as well as some that allow a % of units to have people that are younger than 55.

Good Evening Gita, That is a great idea. We sold out our last Over 55 community the last couple of years and now wait for the next to be approved and building to begin. In my next marketing meeting I will pass on your ideas as well. Have a great Saturday

Gita- we have many 55+ communities here but I'm not sure how many would be considered long term rentals.  Good question, though.

Gita, we have 55+ communities that actual LIMIT the number of rentals -- amazing.   Agreed, there need to be more rentals available.

I love LOVE love your point and wish that the needs of our seniors would be met in more ways than mentioned here in this string.  It is not always - despite our teaching - good to buy.  There are times when renting is perfect and I agree with you.  Best regards

Jeff, It is good to read that they have some rental communities for seniors in your area.

Scott, I hope they will listen and do something about it.

Kathy, Seniors do not like to keep on moving once they decide to sell their home and move to senior community.

Joan, There are some communities that do not allow rentals.

Valerie, I am sure it happens a lot to seniors.

Shellie, It is not always good to buy.
