Richmond's Best Burger
Ok, so I can't say definitively that Carytown Burgers & Fries is Richmond's Best Burger as I have not consumed every hamburger in the Richmond Virginia Metro Area. However, I can say that it has been voted #1 in Richmond for over a decade and they are pretty darn good!
The atmosphere isn't fancy. It is what Guy Fieri would probably classify as a "dive" but in the best sense of the word. You walk through the old door and encounter an equally old counter where the staff asks you if you will be seated upstairs, in the small yet air conditioned room, or outside on their tent covered patio. And then you place your order.
The menu at one of Richmond's Best Burger joints is pretty diverse with choices such as:
-Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chili cheeseburgers, turkey burgers, bacon burgers, etc.
-Specialty burgers such as blue cheese burgers, smokey burgers, brie burgers, etc.
-Grilled chicken, pulled chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, etc.
-Vegetarian AND vegan options with garden burgers, boca burgers, black bean burgers, portabella brie sandwiches, etc.
-Hot dogs, cheese dogs, chili dogs, corn dogs, etc.
-Sandwiches from the Texas Size BLT to Fried Fish, to Grilled Cheese, and more
-Sides are plentiful with the famous fries, cheese fries, chili fries, tater tots, onion rings, potato salad, cole slaw, mozzarella sticks, and Jalapeno poppers
-Fabulous array of soups and salads
Today after taking a small group on a quick tour of downtown Richmond, we made a stop at Carytown Burgers & Fries. I am a purest when it comes to food and opted for a plain grilled chicken sandwich with some fries, and the others in our party ordered burgers and hot dogs. Everyone LOVED their burgers and I think the grilled chicken sandwich is the BEST I have ever had. And the fries? They are awesome!
So if you find yourself new to the area and are looking for one of Richmond's Best Burgers, I would definitely put Carytown Burgers & Fries on your list!
