Inman Real Estate ConnectI learned that if you miss it again, you are crazy!!! I repeat..........If you miss the next Inman in July in San Francisco (or if that's too far and you miss the one a year from now in New York) you are crazy!!

We (the guys here at AR) are in a lot of ways on the cutting edge of what's in the real estate technology space. Mainly because Jon and Matt make sure the rest of us in the office are up to speed. I've had a twitter account for a long time (well a long time in Twitter years anyways, never done anything with it, but I've had one). Zillow was old news by the time many of you heard about it. Trulia.......that was soo long ago. (this is all relative mind you) Of course now, you've all heard of these things. But Inman gives you the peak into what you can expect next year. It never fails......lurking somewhere at the Inman Conference last week were the guys behind the next big thing in real estate. They have to have been there..........If they weren't they aren't the next big thing. They might be the thing after the next big thing, but they aren't next.

Brian Boero from 1000 Watt Consulting did a great presentation on the 50 tools you could be using in your real estate business. Every one of the 50 are a relatively cheap way (and in many instances free) to make some portion of your business more efficient and effective. I must admit, even feeling like we are on the cutting edge, there were a number I had never heard of......(I think Jon knew of about 48 of 50......so Brian knows his stuff). I have the PDF of the presentation if you want it, just let me know by sending me a contact email. (Can I get in trouble from the Inman people for forwarding this thing around? I hope not.......besides, it's not like any of them will read this......unless I feature it I guess.......which I won't......but I am telling all of you it's a can't miss.........hmmmm.........)

Here is the thing that sticks out the most in my mind about this conference. If you have a great idea, this is the place to spread it. You can literally walk right up to ANYONE in the real estate industry and you can have their ear for a minute (if you have a truly great idea, I guarantee you can have their ear for longer...........if you have another listing aggregation site, be happy you had a minute). Even if you don't have a great idea, you can learn about the next great thing out there and start to utilize it in your business while your peers are trying to figure out blogging.........which you of course have mastered :) (If you don't have the blogging mastered.......you need to call me so I can give you some tips :) )

So I am not even kidding you........if there is one conference you attend the rest of the year, do yourself and favor and make it the Inman Real Estate Connect Conference in July in San Francisco. If nothing else, you'll get to meet the guys from ActiveRain :)

EDITED: Here is the link to the URL you can download the presentation from:

Very inspirational.  You've actually got me thinking about San Francisco, when I didn't go 4 hours away to NY.  'Sounds like you had a great time and learned a lot!

Hi Bob:  I was not able to attend the New York InmanConnect, but I have vowed to attend the July happening in San Francisco.  I would really appreciate it if you could send me the pdf you mentioned.  Send it thru the ActiveRain email.  Thanks so much for sharing.  Take care...

Hello Bob, I would appreciate receiving a copy of the file you offered from the Inman convention.  Thank you for the offer.

Thank you very much.

susieblackmon@msn.com

or my AR address, whichever is easier for you.

Come on bob, tell us how you really feel??  hahah
A friend of mine already shared the 50 ways with me.  Lots of interesting stuff.
Glad you had a good and educational time.

Margaret,

Seriously, you should go......if nothing else, make sure you are in NY a year from now. But San Fran in July is pretty amazing :)

Karen Anne and Susie,

I will send it to you ladies.......but do me a favor, go back and edit out your email addresses from the comments you left. Leaving your email address in a comment like that is a great way to get your email scraped off of a site and for it to end up on a ton of real estate spam lists :) and I would hate to see that happen. I have both of your guys emails addresses from our system :) I'll send it in the morning :)

Well, some of us had to stay back and hold down the fort!....

Nancy,

My next post will be entitled........."How I Really Feel.......The Inman Cocktail Party Circuit" and will be what I truly took away from the conference......I'm almost done with it, I'll put it up tomorrow :)

Rich,

The fort may blow away in July my friend, because you will certainly be with us :)

01/15/2008 02:08 AM by Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain)

Hi Bob:  Thanks for the tip about my email address.  I removed it, and will look forward to your email tomorrow.  Thank you so much for sharing.  I hope to see you in July at my very first Inman Real Estate Connect.  Take care...

Karen,

You are welcome :)

Tracey,

You had better be there.......:).......I'll be double checking with the folks at Inman about two weeks before the conference and calling up and harassing any of you that say you will be there and don't show :)

Jo,

I'll bet you can find a few local rainers to make the trip with you :)

01/15/2008 02:49 AM by Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain)

Bob, I have driven non-stop from Seattle to San Diego by my lonesome - not fun! With gas prices it is probably cheaper to fly.

01/15/2008 02:58 AM by Jo Soss | Bremerton WA Real Estate (Skyline Properties, Inc.)

Bob, you are making it evident that I need to NOT MISS the next one!  I hope to be able to make it.  I emailed a request for the pdf.  Thanks!!

This is very cool, its great to see that ActiveRain is moving towards the next step in the Business Blogosphere. The future is looking good and it is moving faster than ever before. Today, I met a gentleman and refered him to the site; a Century 21 guy, specializes in Military Clients to find them properties, as I talked with him, I kept thinking, wow. Yes, AR has a military group, a "Silent Majority Group" and a Century 21 Group, I mean how perfect is that? But, then I thought, it probably wouldn't have mattered what he specialized in, because AR would have had that too! Rain Activity is sweeping across this nation, says Lance, oh ya, and the Weather Channel!

01/15/2008 04:27 AM by Lance Winslow (The Car Wash Guy)

I wish I could have made the conference.  I look forward to viewing the PDF.  I will send you a contact message.

Hi Bob - I'd really like a copy of the PDF file. Thanks!

I've been reading all about the Inman conference and would LOVE to go to S.F. in July.  Active Rain IS on the cutting edge. That's what makes this site so wonderful. You guys Rock!

01/15/2008 07:06 AM by Linda Scanlan (A Fan of AR)

Hi Bob,
Like everyone else, yes I want the PDF file and I really hate that I could not make it to N.Y.  San Francisco is certainly a lot farther for me but maybe.....

01/15/2008 07:33 AM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Bob, that 50 things presentation really started the conference off with a bang -- all in 8 minutes.  I was happy to get the PDF file last night from Inman.  You're right -- the Inman conference was fantastic and very cutting edge.  I've been to several other national real estate conferences in the past and this one topped them all in terms of new information that's useful for keeping us ahead of the competition.

You forgot to mention your favorite aspect of the conference -- getting to meet me (and Tom, and Faina, Desiree, Linda, Kristal, Lisa, Patricia, etc.).  I'm looking forward on seeing your post on the Inman Cocktail Party Circuit -- it's quite a scene.  Thanks for calling me back the last night -- I'd just gone to sleep when you called.

01/15/2008 07:39 AM by Brian Block -- Northern Virginia & D.C. Real Estate (RE/MAX Allegiance)

I emailed you and would like to take a peek at that file also!!  Thanks for sharing this with us!

01/15/2008 07:40 AM by Renee Burrows - Las Vegas NV Real Estate (Nevada Realty Solutions)

Bob,

Keep track of all those asking for a copy of that pdf...if at least one of them doesn't write a post summarizing same, deduct some AR points for bad behavior!!! Thanks,   Fran

Bob, please please please send a copy.  Is a request via comment ok, or so you still want e-mails from us?  San Francisco sounds fun!

01/15/2008 09:35 AM by Elaine Hanson, REALTOR® ~ Topanga, CA Real Estate Specialist (Pritchett-Rapf & Assoc. Realtors, Topanga)

Bob, thanks for taking the time to give us a taste of what it's all about. I really had never thought of attending...too "techno-woo-woo" for me. But you and others have piqued my interest.

Thanks for commenting everyone. When I wrote this last night, I hadn't actually looked at the "PDF" that the people at Inman had sent yet. When I did, I realized it is actually a URL where you can go and download the PDF. Well I started sending the URL then realized I am an idiot.........so here it is

01/15/2008 03:04 PM by Bill Roberts - "Baby Boomer" Retirement Planning (Brooks and Dunphy Real Estate)

Bill,

I wish I could convey how important I think this convention is for people who use technology in their real estate business. It's not vital that you attend, because these technologies eventually make their way into the field, but I believe that being able to implement them in your business ahead of the curve will really give you an advantage. On top of that, listening to some of these industry leaders speak is quite an engaging look into the minds of some really brilliant people.

01/15/2008 04:08 PM by Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain)

Bob - It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun and learned a lot. I would love to read a copy of that PDF. I will e-mail you.

01/16/2008 11:29 AM by Ryan Martin - Bellingham Real Estate Agent (Windermere Real Estate / Whatcom Inc.)

01/16/2008 12:18 PM by Barbara-Jo & Bill - - Florida Realty Professional - AHWD (Charles Rutenberg Realty)

I took a quick look through the list, and it looks pretty good.  I saved it to look at later, too.  I think I will be floating out a bunch of those items.

01/16/2008 03:42 PM by Lane Bailey - REALTOR & Car Guy (Diamond Dwellings Realty)

Lane,

It's certainly a "tuck it away and come back to it at some point" kind of list. It's really one of those things that you have to look at your business and see where ONE of these technologies may supplant something you do offline and start to tackle them one at a time to make your business more efficient. Of course me saying it, and people actually doing it are two different things :)

01/16/2008 04:08 PM by Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain)

Bob - it sounds like you guys really had a great time. Did you also attend the conference?:) BTW -I tried the link, but for some reason it doesn't work.

01/16/2008 05:56 PM by Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain)

BOB - Sorry that I missed this one, but I'll be at the one in NY next year for sure.  I sent you an e-mail about the PDF because the link is broken at the bottom of your post.
