Fort Wainwright Army Post Military PSC RElocation

Welcome to beautiful Fairbanks, Alaska and Fort Wainwright, home of the 1/25th Stryker Brigade, Aviation Task Force 49, 507th Signal Company, the Northern Warfare Training Center, the 9th Army Band as well as supporting units MEDDAC/DENTAC and the 3rd Air Support Operations Squadron.

Originally designated as a US Air Force Base, Ladd Field began life as a small six square mile base; a strategic staging point for ferrying Allied aircraft to Russia. In 1961 Ladd Air Force Base was transferred to the US Army, thus beginning its life as Fort Wainwright. Wainwright was named in honor of General Jonathan Wainwright; a West Point graduate and decorated officer who served as the Senior Field Commander of US and Philipino forces under General MacArthur during World War II.

Located just east of the City of Fairbanks and west of North Pole, Fort Wainwright is an integral part of our community. We take great pride in welcoming the men and women who serve at Fort Wainwright into the Fairbanks community. We're proud of your service and honored to have you call Fairbanks home.

thanks for all the info you put on your website, im pcsing from ft hood in april and im looking forward to a change of scenery and my wife is excited as well, we cant wait to get there

I was stationed there from 86-90. what a lot of changes since then, the hospital looks nice and the housing area has improved 100%. I lived on 9th street across from the hospital and just a few yards from the shopette. Plan on visiting this summer for two months.
